RB Ezekiel Elliott (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All Pro, Dallas Cowboys)

Zeke got screwed. To not even be a finalist? Screwed.
Not really, he'll probably laugh last in the NFL. Idk how Henry's game will translate to the league, where he won't be fed 30-40 times a game, and he'll no longer be able to bully defenders. Zeke fits well in many offenses, with his speed, hands and overall versatility. Who really cares about this award much anymore, I don't believe Zeke had a chance all season. With that said, can't wait to see him put a hurting on the Irish in his last game

ND will pay for this error
I am concerned about the focus of tOSU vs ND in the fiesta bowl; a lot of guys looking at NFL $ and potentially playing in what they view as a consolation prize. But I don't worry about Zeke at all. I expect the Post-season Zeke we all know to show up. (wrong thread) I just hope the whole team follows suit (/wrong thread)

Agree that Zeke fits well with most offenses and teams.

Henry's very physically talented, but I don't know if he's quick enough to be a lead back for a team. I think he's going to have a hard time getting much more that 3 or 3.5 ypc.

The Heisman voters clearly penalized Zeke for Ohio State's relative strength of schedule and his outburst after the loss to the Spartans.

It is disappointing because Elliott is the best back in college football. He's going to show everyone that with more than 250 yards against Notre Dame.

I don't think Zeke was "penalized". I just think the voters saw who were Playoff teams and who weren't. Stanford being the exception but McCaffery had a wonderful, special season and did everything for his team but sell hotdogs in the stands.
I think he should have won the Heisman.
Agreed, SOS and the outburst had nothing to do with much of anything. His poor stat line against MSU crushed him though. And who would anyone take out and replace with Zeke (honestly)? Who cares about the award, he's set to play in the league shortly, and the track record of Heisman winners in the NFL isn't very good anyway. Get ready for ND and who cares about the Heisman dog and pony show. McCaffery would've gotten my vote anyway regardless if Zeke was in the top 3

  • Until the outburst, Elliott was widely assumed to be in 2nd place and in the chase on everyone's dance card.
  • He had a miserable outing against MSU but few touches and coaching staff who admitted a terrible gameplan.
  • Arkansas kept Henry to 95 yards on 27 rushes and he didn't do much better against two lightweights, when he was held out and got about the same number of carries as Elliott got against MSU. Not directly comparable, but noteworthy.
  • Several power ratings (e.g., Massey) rank Alabama's SOS #1. Ohio State ranks #34.
  • Elliott didn't miss out on the trip to New York by a slim margin. He was an afterthought.
    • He got just 5 of the 895 1st place votes cast (0.056%).
    • He did only a bit better on total points, garnering just 57 of 5370 points (1.06%).
    • He ended up a distant 8th place, behind McCaffery (Stanford, 1539 points), Reynolds (Navy, 180 points), Fournette (LSU, 110 points), Cook (FSU, 79 points)--none of whom were on playoff teams--and only marginally edging out Connor Cook from MSU.
I can only conclude that a good kid, who had a single unguarded moment of disappointment, was penalized unfairly by most of the Heisman voters, despite a sterling year. What an absolutely bitter pill to swallow.

I hope that he puts 300 bloody yards on Notre Dame and that MSU stops Henry in his tracks.
