Tony "Benedict" Alford (meh)

Coach Alford is a good guy, if there was any program I would want him to go to it's certainly tOSU. I've seen some people here mention that he doesn't have a stellar resume when it comes to ND rushing yards a year, but you have to remember that Kelly is a pass first coach, or 50/50 at best. More than anything Alford really is a stellar recruiter, especially when it comes to Florida and some other locations. Getting Louis Nix to commit to ND after Weis was fired (Alford didn't even know if he was going to be retained at that point by whoever the new head coach would be) should say a lot about his character and work ethic.

Word is Alford has been trying to land a head coaching job, but he's always been just a RB coach. When his former school, CSU, passed on him this season I'm sure that made him think that he needed to move up the ladder and take some more responsibility before he was going to get a look somewhere. I'm sure the pay raise didn't hurt either, as tOSU is certainly going to pay him more than ND was, they're gun shy about paying coaches right now after the Weis contract. Best of luck to Coach Alford next season, can't wait to see what he does with Elliot and the rest of the backfield!

You're saying that his title means jack squat?

No. I just don't know that the title means nearly as much as you suggest, nor that these things are even thought of in those terms.

Also... forgive me, but is this just an off-season thing for you? Arguing anything and everything for the sake of the challenge...

NTTAWWT. Just curious what I'm getting myself into if I choose to respond to some of the disagreeable posts you've made recently.

As far as their RBs go, there's Troy Davis, and then everyone else.

Actually in Iowa St rushers there's Troy Davis and Darren Davis(whom Alford coached to 3 straight 1000yd seasons) and then everybody else. Darren is the little brother of Troy. That's a heck of a job for one of your first coaching jobs to do on a perennially losing team

This was the home run hire. I don't expect him to be here more than 2-3 years but this is the guy I wanted. This was the only guy I could fathom as a possible upgrade over Drayton.
I stand with Wade.

Well, actually, thanks to last night's overindulgence, I'm kind of listing to starboard, but to the extent I'm physically able, I stand with Wade.

So if I point out something that I think others may not be noticing, I can't respond to any subsequent replies to that observation? And what else have I been "arguing"? Sorry, but I thought this was a site that discussion are held, unless you consider any disagreements within said discussion as arguments.

Your tone on posts of yours I've read recently just seems to have an incensed, argumentative connotation to it.

"So if I... ...I can't?"

"Sorry, but I thought..."

Not discrediting any points you may be making, but it leads me away from discussion and more toward arguing when the conversation feels combative.

Like I said before though, nothing wrong with a disagreement... I've just been hesitant to engage because you've been on a tear recently.
