QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

You don't like free agency before bowl games?
It's good, hollow short term entertainment. But, to me, the long term outlook is grim for the entire sport. It's basically on its way to being just another pro league. The landscape is changing, rivalries and traditions are dying. If kids don't play immediately, they just bail.

It was inevitable and it's all better for the athletes, but selfishly I don't like it one bit.

I'm not crazy about what CFB is becoming.

Get off my lawn.
Everyone was saying college players should be paid like in the nfl. They said they shouldn’t be locked into a school that isn’t playing them.

Now these happened back to back and we see NIL plus the portal is crazy.

Maybe the companies giving the money (if they are local) will get smart and require a contract for them to stay.

Now that I think about it didn’t Quinn sign a big deal with a Texas kumucha company or some shit like that? Kind of fishy if it’s not available outside of the Texas area that a company would send a bunch of money to a high schooler leaving the state?

I was thinking if ewers was on the team for the first game of 22, then he would be our starter in 23. I expected he would try to beat out McCord for the backup role first. I figured either he or McCord would transfer after the fall. So a little sooner than expected.

This basically demonstrates that you aren't going to be able to recruit the #1 QB's in back to back years, the #1 RBs in back to back years anymore. If they don't play, they'll transfer. They are allowed to now so you can't really blame them for doing what they think is in their best interests. The entire outlook for the future is chaotic and like some have mentioned, the landscape is changed forever.
