QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

6 months ago he and his family apparently thought that Day and OSU were the best thing for his future as a QB.

Now here we are.

Me thinks this is the downside to the portal and every homesick freshman can put his name in. When I was in the Army, if they had a portal to go home during basic, my name would have been in it so I'm not judging.

Hope it all works out for everyone.

Being homesick only gets to kids when they aren't playing. Ewers knew no one on the team because he reclassified and literally missed everything through the pre season.

He wasn't beating out McCord next year either and he knew that. Hopefully he goes to aggie because at a minimum he shakes up that league.

Bummer…..I really misread this one. Thought it was all part of process for his development and he had bought in to the plan.

Seems maybe they were never on same page.

I did too, no way in my mind did I think Quinn knew he wasn't going to play. I wish him luck and we're more than fine at the position, but sucks to lose him no doubt.

After he reclassified, it was hard seeing him not transferring if he didn't immediately get playing time. Stroud showed out and McCord showed some promise. Just sucks that it was basically a big goose egg for the program. You loose out on a chance to take a kid who was legitimately interested in playing here and you'll be lucky to have 3 guys in the QB room for '22 and '23.

Got money, so good for him, but not so sure losing a year of development and then going to one of the 3 Texas programs is a good recipe for career success. Kids are much better off just taking a breathe and really thinking about what they want to do. Money was always going to be there, unless they needed that money immediately.

This is going to be the unsettling reality for the OSU and WR room from now on. With that said, a constant reload is a sign of a successful program. Unlike TSUN where most starters stay all 4, because they aren't good enough to go high early.

The University Admittance office should have never admitted him. He’s got an iPad full of coaching from Day and Dennis. As we know from Kelly and Riley College football is without structure it’s the Wild West. The fastest gun hand wins.

Lol whatever.

path was laid out for him to wait/work his (real) freshman year and compete/win the starting job.

No reason to root against him but I have no reason to root for him, that’s for sure. OSU QB play will march on.
Right. He could have treated it like enrolling in time for spring, except better. Gets time to learn the playbook, gets to work with Mick and all the other things that come with a major program... basically, it could have given him a really big head start. I suppose it still did to some degree, even if he has to study a different playbook now.

I hesitate to say this because I don't know the kid, but this high school senior made a hell of a lot of money in the last few months. Can't help but wonder if getting paid changes ones drive. You give me a million bucks when I'm his age, and I'm probably not alive to type this.

Day wasn’t happy he reclassified, but what are you going to do? Tell him to go somewhere else? I don’t think they were ever on the same page. During the season the coaches needed to focus on the season, which is getting the young starter going and the freshman backup ready just in case. Quinn was never going to play meaningful snaps a few months out of his junior year of high school, so he didn’t get the attention he wanted. I wouldn’t say buckeye nation got played, but Quinn wants to play and he ain’t beating out stroud.

It was obvious Quinn left early for the money. Good for him. Good for anyone that works the system. He will go to another school and I hope he works hard and kicks ass. (Unless he plays the buckeyes).
