QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

“I think he would tell you that it’s been hard for him,” Day said. “Kind of jumping into this thing during the preseason and then being out for a little bit of a stretch. And so we’re trying to get him as much information as we can, but there’s a lot of catching up to be done there.”

“He’s trying, he’s working at it, but once we get in the season it’s very difficult to get guys to catch up and get them the reps, because we need to get the guys reps who are gonna play in the game,” Day said.

Ewers was actually sidelined soon after joining Ohio State toward the beginning of fall camp, as Day alluded to an undisclosed injury that forced Ewers to miss some time in mid-August. Ewers is getting some reps now, Day said, but with Stroud still struggling to gain his own footing, it would be counterproductive to take snaps away from him in practice midseason.

With Miller being suspended, Quinn Ewers probably moves up to #3 on the depth chart. I'd really like to see him actually get in a game and be allowed to throw some passes to see what he can do.

Also, there may be a benefit in bringing in Quinn as #2 in garbage time, etc. Kyle McCord has played in 4 games so far. Since last year was a COVID freebee, he still should be able to redshirt this year if he doesn't get in any more games and actually have 4 more years of eligibility. Yeah, I know if the game is on the line and CJ Stroud can't go, bring in McCord and screw the redshirt idea.

There's a 0% chance McCord is in college for 5 years. Might also complicate recruitment for qbs in next class. If there's reason to play McCord, hell play.

I dont see him going anywhere this soon. He's supposed to be in High School so transferring at this point would set off a lot of alarm bells in my opinion. Haven't heard anything like that at this point.

Exactly. There were fans who thought he was going to be starting by October, which was absurd. If Ewers thought that then he's a fool, but I doubt he did.

He's a high school kid protecting himself from injury, cashing in on NIL, and getting his feet wet in college. His day will come, but not yet.

And who here among us would have stayed at home given the option… NIL or otherwise. Get him some Texas Straw Hat? Ummm yeah, that’s some good eats.
