QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Looked fine. Didn't prove he deserves to start over CJ.

Its like you had the same thought and posted it on the interwebs.

You saw what he’s capable of, but he needs time. Stroud probably still needs it too but that’s just the nature of the situation. Plenty of talent in the room, it’s just this team will love and die by the growing pains.

And our inability to generate a pass rush of any kind.

I agree with your pass rush comment, but it's a little strange reading it after a nine sack performance. lol It was, Akron, however.

Ohio State has had three different players claim the B1G Freshman of the Week award all four weeks of the season (Stroud twice, Henderson, and now McCord). The 23-person 2021 true freshman class has already produced 10 major contributors.

Four in a row.....8D

McCord joins redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was Big Ten Freshman of the Week after Ohio State's first two games of the season against Minnesota and Oregon, and true freshman running back TreVeyon Henderson, who won the award after rushing for 277 yards against Tulsa, as Buckeyes who have earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors through the first trimester of the regular season.

I love his potential, and am higher on his potential than CJs. However its very easy to see that the year behind Fields has helped CJs development. That first drive he was a deer in headlights. He bounced back great, if CJ isnt a go this weekend against Rutgers it will be a concern on the road.

Just sayin': In case either one is needed in a future game, it's a very good thing that both he and Miller got that "first drive" in an actual game over with. Also, going on and performing very well should do wonders for their confidence and progression.

KYLE MCCORD’S IMPROVEMENT SINCE LAST YEAR IS “NIGHT AND DAY” AS OHIO STATE BACKUP QUARTERBACK MAINTAINS “THE MINDSET OF BEING THE STARTER”

Last month, Kyle McCord had an opportunity to pick the mind of a man who knows a thing or two about playing quarterback at Ohio State.

At Braxton Miller’s CHARG1NG Football Camp in July, the second-year signal-caller told the Buckeye legend, “the jump from year one to year two has been huge” as his understanding of the position and acclimation to the highest level of college football continues to grow.

Miller’s reply?

“Bro, just wait until you go from year two to year three, like it's even bigger.”

McCord is well-positioned to take over the reins from C.J. Stroud as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback next year, assuming the 2021 Heisman Trophy finalist turns pro at the conclusion of the forthcoming season. But the five-star prospect can’t look that far ahead just yet.

McCord said Stroud’s been “like a big brother” to him since coming into the program, and McCord is trying to soak up as much information as possible from his stablemate about the finer details of the game.

Early on they both were competing for QB1, you know that wouldn't be the situation between QBs on a lot of other teams. This just shows you what a great teem leader Stroud is.
