QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Just sayin': It happened before (twice) and could happen again:

Trevor Lawrence becomes first true freshman quarterback to win national title in 33 years

Lawrence is the first true freshman to win since Jamelle Holieway led the Oklahoma Sooners over the Penn State Lions in the Orange Bowl 33 years ago. During the 1985-1986 season, Holieway took over as starting quarterback after Troy Aikman's leg was broken.

He will be starting by his sophomore year. Harrison's kid as well. I am from the Philadelphia area, and have watched him play.

“Kyle is a relentless worker,” said Prep offensive coordinator Tom Sugden. “He approaches the game like he’s a disrespected, no-star, gets-no-publicity kind of guy. He loves to compete, and he loves to be coached ... we coached him hard, and he really wanted to be coached. He wanted to get better. He wanted us to add more to his plate. And you could hold him accountable. I was never concerned about his ego.”

“I just think it’s getting more and more reps and trying to get better with each play,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said of McCord. “The thing you can’t do is you can’t run at every single play all different coverages every single practice. So what you have to do is you have to be able to play the plays in your mind. Play with an imagination, put the work in off the field. Because if you can solve some of those problems on your own, not just when you walk in the building and when you’re out at practice, you’re going to accelerate your learning.

“I think he’s done a good job of that. I think he can continue to get better at it because that’s a huge part of the game.”

I think McCord will win the starting position. Miller and CJ have been developing for over a year in the system. Kyle only had a couple of months to develop before the spring game. I think his development will be exponential in the next few months plus the fall camp and he will grow faster than Miller and CJ over those months. I think he will take a step ahead of those guys due to that rapid development.

If you don’t know what XJ means, you likely can’t afford it.

seems unlikely that you’d be talking about a Jaguar as
1) very few people would not know an xj is a Jaguar
2) fewer would try to big time someone with the “you can’t afford it” line about a notoriously unreliable, overpriced pos
3) xj, if a reference to the Jaguar, is an incredibly obtuse nickname for a quarterback (or anyone else)
