QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

QUESTION: Wouldn't you think that if the 49ers were planning on drafting Justin Fields at #3 Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch would be at Ohio State's (in lieu of Alabama's) Pro Day to watch him?

ANSWER: Apparently they're getting a private workout with Fields tonight or tomorrow.

49ers’ John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan flying to Columbus after Alabama pro day

For those reading way too much into the presence of San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan being in Tuscaloosa today for Mac Jones' workout and not in Columbus for Justin Fields', Shanahan offered the following explanation on Monday.

"[Just] talking with Fields's agent [David Mulugheta] and everything, we'll get another one from him too," Shanahan said via Kirk Larrabee. "So we'll be able to see him. That kind of made it an easy decision."

"I'm excited to see him eventually in person," Shanahan said of Fields. "I've also got a lot of tape to go off too. I know he's going to throw it really good in person and be really fast in person also."

The 49ers are represented today in Columbus. Assistant general manager Adam Peters and a small contingent of staff are there to watch Fields.

Yes, plz.

And 4.44??? I never thought he looked that fast at tOSU, Not slow by any means, just not that fast. I thought he was more a ~ 4.6(ish) guy.

I didn't think he looked that fast until he ran down Sermon flat footed with a ten yard disadvantage to throw him a block at the end of his run (forget which game, MSU?). He just blew by everyone, that was one of the most impressive plays I remember from Justin. Looks like he's having a good pro day.

Dan should stick to running out the back of the endzone. These veiled shots at Fields and not any of the other pretty boy (bag of milk) QBs stinks and I don’t like it.

Knock his slow decisions vs. IU/NW, sure. Did we ever see anything but Justin wanting to play and win? Pure BS. Luckily Rodger has it right.
