QB Julian "Just" Sayin (Official Thread)

Zwick was the more highly regarded of the two, Smith was the (also) in state athlete we were taking a chance on.

For this to even attempt to come close (but still fall short) it would have to be Smith who was committed for the longer time...... actually up to and through the point where he had been "locked in", and then going after Zwick.

But that's ignoring the apparent talent discrepancy between the two during the time of their recruitment.

Troy was a QB, always was to the staff and Zwick would actually in that same interview go on to say the same thing.

And you're splitting hairs with the Noland and Sayin on the rankings, as they are nearly identical (ESPN has them 1 and 2, Rivals has them 2 and 3, etc.)

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Lemme know when Julian Sayin is on the punt coverage team like Troy was.

And MY point is that Sayin is 1 and Noland is 2. I dunno how you think that's not my point. Your comparison was Zwick and Smith, who were much farther apart.

You can agree to disagree, I'll just agree that it was a very bad comparison.

Very interesting. I’m sure Noland and Sayin would know each other to some extent. Hopefully they are both good with this, Noland sticks arounds, and it turns into a healthy and friendly competition for the next couple years. Although I can’t really say I’d blame Noland If he transferred out. It’s a tough situation.

So because Troy played punt coverage (and how often was that??) he was not recruited as a QB, got it.
Your point is an assumption - we have no idea how the staff view Noland and Sayin, and since they were both early offers I think it's much more likely they were viewed as 1A and 1B by the staff.
Over recruiting at the QB position was then, and is now more than ever, a necessary move.

Ugh. 1a and 1b is my point. Troy and Zwick weren't 1a and 1b, they were QB and Athlete. Which is why Sayin won't be on the punt team. Because it's a bad comparison.

They must really feel he’s the best option or they wouldn’t risk this.

That said, I actually do feel bad for the current kids who chose to be buckeyes.

My gut tells me that Day never really loved the idea of a left handed QB.

However, I get it this move too. None of the QBs were at the level Day was accustomed to last year and at this point he’s doing everything he can to improve the room. I think the bigger worry is what do the other 2024 kids think?

My thought now is that this wasn’t worth the possible headaches even though originally I was for it.
