JOE. THOMAS. BARRETT. Ohio State's been extraordinarily good at the quarterback position since J.T. Barrett's departure, but I'm not sure the Buckeyes are ever going to find another dude who could command a team like he did.
I'm convinced the guy could lead his team into an inferno and his entire squad would follow him without even a blink. I'll never get enough of that.
I'm not new here, so I'm fully aware that before I even log on for the day there will be no fewer than 30 comments from your socially isolated asses arguing about J.T. Barrett's legacy and whether or not he should have been benched.
That's fine because that's what online is for, but also maybe you could just enjoy the video and appreciate the fellow who owned the locker room and donated his general physical wellbeing to Ohio State victories for four years.
I think I just heard Urban Meyer call quarterback power again.

After Braxton Miller's injury, J.T. Barrett beat out Cardale Jones for the starting job in his redshirt freshman season. Barrett's 2014 campaign saw him reach the top-seven in five of our categories, including passer rating (169.8, third), total yards (3,772 yards, third) and yards per attempt (9.03 YPA, sixth).
The redshirt-freshman finished fifth in Heisman voting that year and was a Third-Team All-American. Barrett ended the 2014 season on the bench, however, as an ankle injury forced third-stringer Cardale Jones into action. The rest is history.

A fitting end to likely the greatest quarterbacking career in Ohio State history, J.T. Barrett's redshirt senior year was better than ever. He accounted for the second-most total yards (3,851 yards) and the third-most passing touchdowns (35 TDs) in program history.
Barrett finished his career with his second Big Ten Championship and a Cotton Bowl Offensive MVP award. He is Ohio State's career leader in nearly every major passing statistic, including yards (9,434), touchdowns (104), and completions (769).

AN APPRECIATION POST FOR J.T. BARRETT, WHO SET THE BIG TEN AND OHIO STATE CAREER QUARTERBACK BENCHMARKS
The man pictured above this sentence is the only quarterback in Ohio State history to beat Michigan four times as a starter.
He also holds the career Big Ten and Ohio State records for both touchdowns thrown (previously held by some guy named Drew Brees) and touchdowns responsible for. The latter record stands at a boisterous 147 — 40 more touchdowns than the quarterback who sits second on the same list.
This could go on for a while. When J.T. Barrett's collegiate career ended, his name stood next to an incredible 39 conference and school records, highlighted by career wins (38) and total offense (12,697 yards).
And yet, it doesn't feel like the first-ever three-time team captain gets the credit he deserves.
That may be because he wasn't the quarterback behind center when Ohio State pounded Alabama and Oregon on their way to claiming the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship. Maybe it's because he wasn't able to guide the Buckeyes back to that mountaintop in his final three seasons. Or maybe it's because his two predecessors in 2018 and 2019 put together historical statistical seasons in their own right.
Whatever the reason, it's a slight to the most productive quarterback who has ever suited up at Ohio State.
Barrett was the first quarterback former head coach Urban Meyer recruited to Ohio State. He was a member of the Buckeyes' legendary 2013 recruiting class that included superstars Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliott, checking in as the 12th highest-rated prospect in that crop of players.
Buckeye fans at large didn't know much about Barrett during his true freshman season, in which he sat well back on the depth chart while taking a redshirt in 2013. But Barrett was unceremoniously thrust into the spotlight when Braxton Miller's 2014 season ended before it started with a shoulder injury in fall camp.
With just half of fall camp to prepare to take over as Ohio State's starting quarterback, Barrett's debut agains Navy in the season-opener got off to a rocky start. A pair field goals and a defensive touchdown had the Buckeyes trailing Navy 14-13 late in the third quarter, but that's when he officially arrived.

Totally random, but I re-watched the '14 Indiana game and I remember now why I was so aggravated during that whole thing. Pretty sure JT could've had 600 yards and 8 TDs if something wasn't a bit off early in the game. Kind of amusing watching it knowing what happens in the 4th Q.

FORMER OHIO STATE QUARTERBACK J.T. BARRETT TO PLAY IN THE SPRING LEAGUE
J.T. Barrett is getting another chance to play professional football.
The former Ohio State quarterback will be one of the quarterbacks participating in The Spring League's 2020 fall season, which will begin in San Antonio later this month.
Barrett has been selected to play for the Alphas, one of six teams in the league, which will be conducting over four weeks in a bubble at the Alamodome.
The Alphas will be playing in the season's opening game on Oct. 27 at noon against the Blues, and that will game will feature an Ohio State vs. Michigan storyline, as Shea Patterson has been selected to quarterback the Blues.
While no TV information has been announced for that game, Fox Sports 1 is scheduled to air eight TSL games this fall, including the Alpha's games against the Conquerors on Nov. 4 (10 p.m.) and on Nov. 10 (8 p.m.) against the Jousters. All regular-season games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with the championship game scheduled for the week of Nov. 23.
Barrett is the only former Buckeye who has been announced so far as a participant in this year's edition of The Spring League, which typically holds practices and games for NFL scouts as well as smaller showcases throughout the year.
“The league is hoping that the reduction in NFL rosters, the cancellation of the CFL and the number of college players who opted out will add quality talent this fall,” Sports Business Journal's John Ourand wrote. “It plans to return for a spring season in '21.”
It's an opportunity for Barrett to try to earn himself another chance to play in the NFL after he was waived this summer by the Pittsburgh Steelers and did not land with another team.

J.T. Barrett will get another shot at his NFL dreams this weekend.
The former Ohio State quarterback has bounced around the professional ranks after being picked up by the New Orleans Saints an undrafted free agent in 2018. The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly bringing in the first three-time captain in Buckeyes history for a tryout this weekend.
Dallas is hosting its rookie minicamp this weekend, and backup quarterback Ben DiNucci isn’t eligible to participate. Because of that, the Cowboys are brining in Barrett for a tryout where he will throw to their recent draft pick, Stanford’s Simi Fehoko, and seven undrafted wide receivers and tight ends.
