QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Yeah, I know Stroud is not even 1/2 way through his 1st year (i.e. counting post season); however, I just remember Troy as being a much better runner.
I think Stroud has the ability to be a better runner than he’s shown. He won’t be as effective running as Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, or Justin Fields, but I think he can be much more of a running threat than Haskins was (at least in everyone’s mind but Screamin’ A). We’ve really been spoiled by the running ability of the QBs in mostly 9 of the last 10 years.

He had a couple of nifty moves to avoid pressure and then make solid throws on Saturday, which was encouraging. I’m guessing the shoulder has limited the amount of called QB runs, and that Day has told him to minimize the hits he’s taking in games where tOSU is heavily favored. I’m thinking we’ll see more QB zone read and option calls in tougher games, especially in the red zone.

(which doesn't count Troy, of course it also leaves out speed option to the boundary in LA :scared:)

#2 Maybe the most athletic specimen in school history (Chase makes this interesting)
#5 Best lateral agility in school history
#16 Much more effective runner than both despite less athleticism
(some backup named Burrow before an injury)
*A year hiatus as Texas Tech*
NFL franchise talent at QB who could also run with almost anyone in school history
... and now CJ.

(I'd also argue that Jack Miller looks like a faster Burrow athletically)

You forgot one:

#12 Didn't have exceptional speed; however, he could run right over linebackers......

Not in his last year. Troy ran when he needed to, but became pass first. And that is what Stroud is at this moment. A guy that can run when needed but rather open up up pass game with rhe threat of his legs. And was deadly accurate when the defense thought he'd run

Some of those throws against Maryland... falling backwards bracing for a hit and he just effortlessly zips the ball 35 yards downfield on a rope to Wilson & JSN.

My favorite one is the throw to Ruckert in the Maryland game. The last throw on that video. They were in zone, Ruckert was just about to clear the LB and get behind him. As soon as he saw that, he let it fly and did so with enough time and space to get the ball there before the safety could close in. It was great anticipation and zip.

There are a few players who we know will not win the trophy, including several preseason favorites. CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson, Tom Fornelli and Bud Elliott discussed that, and who they think will win the Heisman, on this week’s Cover 3 podcast.

Patterson could see it going to another quarterback -- one that has not been in the conversation much.

“If I had to place a bet, I would probably put it on CJ Stroud... “I’m going to look at CJ Stroud -- again, I’m balancing this -- I think that he is built, and I think that this Ohio State system is built with Ryan Day for him to be able to put up incredible numbers… I agree, the quarterback class is weak. I think that’s why it might be a quarterback with incredible numbers and I think CJ Stroud’s just going to have incredible numbers."
