QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Let's just hope the Oline is more like the 2005 squad as opposed to that 06' unit.

and the defense

Agreed to both. That year was on the players IMO. We had some really good defensive coaches in 06 - Fick, Beckman (3-time Broyles award nom), Heacock (Broyles winner), and even had a dedicated speed coach.

It’s still amazing how we as a school went from these tall, lumbering QBs to the likes of Troy, Pryor, Miller, JT, Jones, Haskins, Fields, and now Stroud. I can’t comprehend the light show CJ is going to put on next year. The ND game is going to be amazing.

I think it was just the evolution of CFB.
What amazes me even more, is that talent at QB, but the talent at RB has never dipped. With those QBs, we went with these RBS: Pittman, Wells, Herron, Hyde, Zeke, Weber, Dobbins, and now Henderson

Herbie and Bellasari weren't tall and lumbering.

They just sucked.

Herbie's one (and only?) good play was an option run.

But what were his rushing stats? 0 rushes for 0 yards?
(sarcasm font intended)
His one run in the Rose Bowl, on a 3rd and 8 after a pair of three-and-outs, lowering the shoulder and getting 10 yards, was what seemed to kick-start the offensive explosion that followed.

But for the season, he had 32 ‘carries’, including sacks, for -20 yards. A disappointment after he averaged 48 yards per carry in 2020.

When's the last time we had a QB with negative rushing yards? Boeckman?
