Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

The Cardinals have played 6 fewer games than the Pirates. The red birds have 4 more victories, and they're still barely over .500.

That's tracking for a 54 win season in a regular year. 108 losses is almost impossible but that's impressive no matter how you slice it.

They went 9-9 the last 18 games to get up to that level.

Pirates decline Chris Archer's $11M option, the only smart decision they made in regards to Archer. Gave away three players for nothing.

That's why Tampa Bay has a similar payroll as the Pirates yet they won the American League while the Bucs had the worst record in baseball.

Wash, rinse, repeat. :pirate:

Hype up the prospect. Get him to PNC Park. Pump out one good season. Sell a few t-shirts. Make a few AT&T SportsNet promos. Watch him earn a spot on one All-Star Game roster. Wait for him to approach a legit contract number. And trade him for a journeyman and a prospect who won’t be in Pittsburgh for three or four years.

Josh Bell trade just latest in never-ending cycle for Pirates
