Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

If Franklin was even a slightly proficient game manager on the sideline, Penn State might already have a couple more signature wins in the series and the Buckeyes might not have won three straight Big Ten titles. That and some misfires in molding a coaching staff might be the only real weaknesses for the Nittany Lions as challengers for the Buckeyes, which again elevates them over the Wolverines.

True that Franklin is a terrible game manager but I think that's evened out by the fact he has that Brady Hoke/Mark Dantonio like ability to get his team to play the game of their otherwise mediocre lives against OSU.

2017 - McSorely lost that game. Yeah, Ohio State did a lot to win it, but McSorely lost it. First and goal at the 7, up 8. Ohio State holds them to a field goal, but I am convinced that either Ohio State's defense hid their play call, or McSorely just sucked at reading it. 3 straight read options and he made the wrong call on all 3. If Penn State is up 15 after that, Ohio State needs 2 touchdowns (which they did get) and a 2-point conversion (which they didn't get in 2 tries). That stop was the game and McSorely lost it. Sure, Franklin had a couple more chances to manage the game badly, and he succeeded at it. But I think that neither of them helped Ohio State as much as McSorely did on those 3 plays.
