P Cameron Johnston (Pittsburgh Steelers)

looks quite talented, but I sincerely hope he and all punters on our team ride the pine all year. we should score every drive we don't have a turnover in 2013. this offense is going to be lethal.

if he wanted to punt in a game situation he should have gone to a team with a mickey mouse offense like michigan.

maybe when Braxton goes pro then he can punt a couple of times in a game for us.

go bucks.

That's a hell of a leg if that is really 55-65 yards as they suggest in the videos. Wonder if that changes much when you have a rush coming at you.

One step punter. One step.

Less time necessary to provide protection, less area to protect (he's not stepping up in the pocket).

Yes, please.

Couldn't be more excited about Mr. Johnston joining our team. As stated earlier, if his videos are indicative of his talent level, one of our biggest weaknesses has become one of our greatest strengths. In my IMO, his videos are legit and his get-off time is incredible. Usually, kickers strive for a 1.25 second get off, but he usually has it off in less than 1.2 seconds. Plus his one-step motion almost ensures that punts will never be blocked. All Hail Urban!

I know what you're saying and am REALLY looking forward to seeing this offense in 86 days, but I'd take a punt (that isn't blocked) over a turnover any day.

Just came back from almost two weeks in Australia and watched 3-4 Australian Rules Football games. Let me tell you those guys can kick the fuck out of a ball...I mean flat out nuclear detonate it. On top of that, an AFL ball is much bigger and rounder and thus isn't nearly as aerodynamic, so once Cameron gets used to kicking the smaller, more oblonged ball he is going to be a special weapon.

Meyer confirms punter

Meyer confirmed the signing of Australian punter Cameron Johnston.

“We needed a punter,” Meyer said. “Because of our scholarship reduction (from 85 to 82 because of NCAA sanctions), we didn’t have one available in February.”

That’s when the expected signing of punter Johnny Townsend fell through. Meyer said he tried to persuade Townsend to enroll as a walk-on, but the punter decided to accept a scholarship at Florida.

Subsequent transfers of linebacker David Perkins and defensive lineman Se’Von Pittman created room.

“We had a scholarship come available, so I made the decision we needed to go get a punter,” Meyer said. “To find one of this caliber, from what everybody is telling me, is hard to imagine. But he hasn’t punted in a game, either.”

If anyone has the Wiscy game from last year watch that punt from our own 25 early in the 4th quarter and now think about our NC hopes for this year. Big moment in a close game. Yeah I'm really thankful for our Aussie friend too. Very much hoping he adapts well to our brand of ball in the US because I'm here to tell you - if he lives up to his potential and is a major influence in our ST play he could make a big difference for us in a NC hunt.
