I am kindof in the 'sky is falling' category. Having one tackle drafted in the first round since Orlando Pace is pretty ludicrous. The recruiting there needs to be better. I am not against Fitzpatrick per se, he seems like a solid prospect, but Stud needs to start to getting more Zach Rice's and less George Fitzpatrick's.
“The big thing for us was the long-term relationship George had with the Ohio State coaches,” Fitzpatrick’s father, Mark, told 247Sports. “They were one of the first big schools to make an offer and coach Stud (Greg Studrawa) has a great relationship with George. Coach Tony Alford is the local recruiter that originally reached out, and he and George have also built a really good relationship. Coach Ryan Day has been very cool throughout the whole process and it was a staff that was really easy to get along with.”
“Coach Day told us to take all the visits,” Mark Fitzpatrick said. “We sat in his office on that first visit and we hadn’t been anywhere else in an official capacity, and he told us we should take every one of our visits. He didn’t want us to get to Columbus thinking we left any other stone unturned. It was big for us.
“The fit is great for George. The coaches have told us that George can go either left side or right side. They are going to have a need on the left side in the next couple seasons and there’s going to be a lot of opportunity for him to get in there, compete and earn a spot. … They have the two best edge rushers in the 2021 class, so I think that says something about being able to go against elite players in practice every day and get ready for the next level.”
So many important tid bits in those remarks.
