OL Ben Christman (transfer to Kentucky)

Just brutal. The OL now doesn't really have either top end talent or depth. Pretty rough combination.

Yep. Go back and look at Stud's thread. There were plenty of people questioning this as it unfolded (and the usual allotment that will defend a coach no matter what is put right in front of their face). There was also a lot of "we'll just hit the transfer portal if all the plan B guys didn't work out" talk at the time.

Well, here we are. Transfer portal have a bunch of OSU level talent dying to come play for us?

The time it took Day to realize his staff member wasn't performing and then to do something about it is going to bite him in the ass this fall.

Assistant coach issues have a problem here dating back to at least Tress. Whether it's keeping them around too long or hiring guys that had no business being Ohio State coaches, or both. Bollman. Snyder. Siciliano. Warriner and Beck. Bill Davis. Zach Smith. Alex Grinch. How many titles did those guys cost Ohio State? 2-4?

Yes but those two coaches (Tressel and Meyer) had some things on the other side of the ledger that Day does not.

Day goes 16-1 in The Game and wins a couple of NC's and he can take his time firing bad assistants all he wants to.

They also had 25 combined years of head coaching experience when they were hired. Experience can be a tough teacher.
