OklaSt blog on Buck's O...

Wilmeth's blog...a fine, articulate rendition...may not give Zwick the QB respect he deserves. Just one Buck's opinion, but I think Zwick will have a very decent game on Thursday. I'm not comparing to Troy Smith here, simply because Troy won't be in the game.

Zwick will QB behind a much different offensive team that took the field at Iowa. Against the weasels, the OL gave Troy as much as 8 seconds to set and look on pass calls. Give Justin 6 seconds and he will have a good game in the passing realm.

I would like OkSt's D to go into the game thinking Zwick is a weak replacement for Troy Smith, something the blog implied. I would also recommend this blog as reading for our whole offensive team. Just my humble opinion.

We have the #1 punt returner in the country...if that's not an A+ what is? Throw in the Groza winner...the offense that comes from our special teams may be one of the best in college football, ever.

I think D+ for Zwick was too low. Zwick is a C. He can be good, he can be bad...but he's not always bad. I think you could give a D to the running game, because it pretty much has always been bad. O-line has been getting better...i might give them a B now after the last few games.

QB - a little pessimistic, but Zwick has been anything but exciting. I think the combination of adding Ginn/Gonzo as more experienced threats (what Zwick didn't have), an improved line, and a half season of practicing as the guy who lost the starting spot will equal to an offensive explosion against OkState.

RB - This was pretty accurate, tho I think someone should remind him of Mr. Joe, as he's definitely in the Top-2 coming into this game unless we see that speed backs are more effective against their paltry D.

WR - Definitely ignored Gonzo's emergence. Hamby should be credited as a talent that is never used. Maybe that's cuz he releases early at the line about 85 times a game.

OL - I would give the O-line a B for the last few games, but overall you can't give them that rating if you aren't looking thru scarlet covered glasses. That was a fair rating.

Overall not a bad writeup. Did his homework fairly well.

I really hope that we put up like 40 points against OkState with absolutely no scrambling (outside of what Kurt Warner could do) from Zwick to prove the type of defense that is played in the Big12 (as opposed to the Big10).

Best special teams unit in College Football should have gotten A+. There are many OK St. fans on other sites who feel Nugent will not dictate the outcome of this game(mistake). I bet Nugent could drill 60+ yard FG's in a dome.

The O-line has improved. We will see what type of offense we run with Zwick but our O-line looks a hell of alot better than a C in the spread.

I think a D+ is a little harsh for Zwick. He lost to Iowa and Wisky which are two great defensive squads that are two loss teams. Th NW game was lost by our defnese.

Gonzo is an X-factor just like the Michigan game. I hope they focus on Ginn and Holms because Gonzo will burn them at least once.

Dionte Johnson and Branden Joe will be factors in this game. If we can power run the football right at their front they are in trouble.

I think the author makes too many assumptions about our team. IMO if we can hold Michigans offense down we can hold theirs down as well. Troy Smith would help us in this game but IMO Zwick is more than capable. Smiths absence doesn't guarantee OK St. a victory.

Another positive for our team is we have performed well in big games under Tressel. I think when grading a team the coaches need to be looked at. He always seems to get his players ready for big games. IMO Coaching may win or lose this one. I like Tressel over Miles in this matchup.

Guys, you are critiquing this review through your season long addiction. I think the write-up itself is spot-on, especially from an "outsiders" viewpoint. From working on the preview blogs for BP, I know it's very tough to read between the lines and try to figure out who is good, underrated, overrated, etc. If you did a bunch of internet research on the Bucks, you would find that Zwick is a very poor QB with no leadership skills, Hamby has done little to nothing all year long, Brandon Joe is an unknown (injured most of the year), and the OL has sucked for the majority of the season. Sounds harsh, I know, but that's what you would find. Now, we BPer's know different, simply because we're intimately involved with our team. I'm not trying to bust anyone's balls here, but I think the preview is very well researched and written.
