Di Lorenzo and Kowase win NCAA Doubles National Championship (6-7, 6-4, 1-0).

Outstanding effort by these two student-athletes, because Di Lorenzo regrouped after singles play and Miho battled throughout the tournament (even in the team loss).

Happy for these two student-athletes and for the program. First national championship of any sort for Ohio State Women's Tennis. Go Buckeyes.

@gracelhink What are your thoughts about Di Lorenzo going professional and not coming back for her junior season:huh: It looks like she could add a little more dimension to her frame before she goes Pro but that is just MO

I met her dad who is a widely esteemed surgeon in Columbus. I have heard she is a bright student, and excels in the classroom.
So financial need and struggles with education are not factors to push early entance on the pro tour.
She is the #1 ranked NCAA singles player, and on any given day could compete successfully on tour, but tour is a travel grind for many, especially the challenger circuits.
I hope for the teams sake she returns for her junior year. It will be a rebuilding year in 2017-18 and having the anchor will be critical.

for women's tennis geeks, here is a national high school record held by a former lady from Ohio
Most State Championships (Individual): 4
48 girls won four state tennis championships in high school. But only one from Ohio did so. That would be Andrea Farley of Indian Hill (Cincinnati). She won hers each year from 1985-88.

As a high school senior, Farley won matches in both the Australian and French Opens. She only failed to play in Wimbledon because she didn't want to miss her high school graduation. Farley went on to be a three-time All American at the University of Florida.

Excerpt from interview with Francesca on college tennis 2 day.
"Di Lorenzo is going to take the fall off to play pro events and then will make a decision on whether to return to Ohio State for the spring."
this would be a major loss for the hopes of ladies repeating as B10 title holders in 2018.
Right now the OSU women's roster is very slim,

I will say the obvious. If she leaves in the Spring, that will be the end of any suggestion that the Ohio State women's tennis team will win the Big Ten.
