Nebraska stormed the court after beating Ohio State 68-62 in Lincoln on Jan. 20. The Cornhuskers and their fans were excited. Turns out the Buckeyes were a bit peeved.
“Obviously when you lose a game, you definitely want payback, and storming the court makes you want payback that much more,” Lenzelle Smith Jr. said Thursday. “Being escorted back to our locker room, a fan bumped into our coach, and he’s already having a hard time trying to get by, and when you think about stuff like that, they don’t really care for him. That just makes us a little bit more angry and gives us more reason to fight.”
So basically, bump our coach, and it’s on. Thad Matta does have leg problems that stem from a back injury. And Matta also has grown weary of court stormings this year after some big road losses by the Buckeyes.
“I know we lead the country in court stormings. We’ve been court stormed more this year than I’ve ever been court stormed,” Matta said.
