Just saw that Ohio State women's soccer beat TTUN, 2-1, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament Friday to make the finals Sunday. Will play Illinois in the championship.

OSU beats Akron in the first round of the NCAA tournament!!!!!!

The match didn't end in regular time. I didn't end in extra time. I didn't end after the first group of PKs. It went to the 15th penalty chance by each team as OSU staved off elimination 8 times and also missed a chance to win it somewhere around penalty number 11.

Big Ten actually has a heck of a soccer conference going on- IU and Maryland are elite powers having great years, add in Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Northwestern.

Love the competition and love seeing the Bucks get a Tournament win! Beating Akron is a heck of an accomplishment. Way to go! Beat ND!

Midfielder Zach Mason buried a shot into the right side of the net last night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, and Ohio State defeated Akron 13-12 in the 15th round of penalty kicks in the opening round of the NCAA men’s soccer tournament.

Ohio State men’s soccer advances to NCAA Tournament 2nd round after PK thriller

Five rounds of penalty kicks weren’t enough to decide a winner. Nor were six, or 10 or 14.

It took a 15-round penalty kick shootout for the Ohio State men’s soccer team to advance past Akron, 1-1 (13-12), in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday night.

“I think this result is what being a Buckeye is all about,” redshirt-senior goalkeeper Alex Ivanov said. “We battled through the end, we believed we could do it, we persevered and we did it.”
