Class: 2024 (high school)
Position: Offensive Line
School: Toledo (OH) Central Catholic
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 325 lbs

Also attending this weekend, in-state offensive tackle Mark Nave will be making the trip south from Toledo to see all the Buckeyes have to offer. A massive high school junior, Nave is an impressive 6-foot-4, 325 pounds which clearly is a college level frame at the position. Holding nearly double-digit offers from many of the MAC schools, Nave is a player that the Buckeyes will keep their eyes on because of his in-state ties for one, but also the size that was mentioned.

A Toledo Central Catholic product, Nave is being coached by a solid Ohio prep program and getting the development there is worth keeping tabs on. Position coach Justin Frye was able to use Ohio well in the 2023 class and though a more national approach in 2024 is expected, in-state players like Nave are not only worth having on campus, but really keeping in communication with as well.

Interesting. I thought the kid from Hoban was next in line. Guess Frye must really like Nave.
I think he may eventually get an offer too. I could see 2 of Nave, Satterwhite and Wheelock. To go with Moore, Armstrong twins and Seaton. 6 OL, 3 possible OTs and 3 IOL. Need big numbers in ‘24 and ‘25 to fix Stud’s misses

We're going heavy on OH OL with Frye or the state is just currently loaded (3 of 4 from Ohio in the last class, now several more Ohio OL offers), hopefully the latter. I feel like BP spoke this into existence on focusing on in-state OL and not missing big OOS recruits lol. But hey, if we've got the talent here in Ohio, I love it. Still haven't got the chance to really look at '24 and on recruits, so I will go with the optimistic outlook that Ohio is loaded for now.

If you look at 2024 OL ranking across the sites, there is basically zero 5* OL in general. You have to go down to 46 to find the first OL on 247. Why chase high 4* OOS kids when you can recruit home state 4* kids. I say load up on Ohio kids and lock the line down and fill in from other states, not the other way around
We can only say that because OH recruiting is in an upswing.
Let’s go back to 2019- Zeke Corrall and Nolan Rumler were the only 4stars in the state. Correll is getting ready for the NFL Draft this year from ND. While Rumler played sparingly at scUM and then transferred to Kent St to finish his college career. Zach Carpenter and Ryan Jacoby were the next highest OL, both 3stars in OH. Carpenter didn’t make it at scUM and transferred to IU, where hes been a decent OL, and Jacoby left OSU after getting little to no PT for Pitt.
2020- OSU got the grand slam OT in Paris Johnson Jr. But Branson Taylor and Luke Kendra were next ranked OL at 3stars, and both were raw and not OSU caliber.
2021- Ben Chrisman was the highest ranked OL who signed with OSU, and is fighting for a backup spot in 2023. Terrance Moore and Mao Glynn were next ranked OL at 3stars, and neither were OSU caliber.
2022- Tshabola could be a starter in ‘23, and in the 2 deep at worse. Amil Wagner was the next ranked OL, and OSU fought for him, but not enough in the end as he has a lot of bulking up to do before he ever sees the field. Blake Miller is the only guy on the list who OSU truly lost out on. And he wanted to leave the state.

OH didn’t start get elite, national level OL talent until 2023. And OSU got the top 3. 2024, the OL looks even better, and with the Portal and NIL constantly throwing a monkey wrench on rosters. Loading up with local talent as a foundation is a wise strategy, but only if the state has enough quality talent to load up on. Getting Luke Kendra or Mao Glynn just because they’re from OH doesn’t strengthen the team.

My comment only applied to 2024. I've seen people asking why we are recruiting Ohio OL so much and that was what i was referencing. No filling from Ohio every year won't work but considering the talent in Ohio for 2024 especially on the OL, makes no sense to chase National kids when the Ohio kids are just as good if not better.

I agree with you. I was just stating why that strategy wasn't possible in the past. OSU is lucky to have strong classes for OL in OH at this point and in the near future.

Frye is clearly moving the OL in a new direction. He wants big, athletic, and nasty guys on the interior. Remember, he likes his guards to pull. Nave is a huge athlete! Sure, there are Guards ranked higher by the recruiting services but Frye has this kid ranked higher. It’s like if Peyton Manning and Tommie Frazier were in the same class, who’s higher on Tom Osborne’s list. His offense would be awful with Peyton.

Agreed, and I think that's why guys like Luke Hamilton and Ben Roebuck won't see offers. They don't have the athleticism that Frye is looking for in this offense
