Agree, but back in the day it was like here's $500 bucks in an envelope. It was not a million dollars

Idk about that. It's been on record that guys have gotten cars, homes before too. Reggie Bush gave back his heisman due to receiving a home from USC for his family. Eric Dickerson with the famous story of getting the gold Trans am from aTm, only to still go to SMu. Cris Carter has said he earned big money at OSU. And same with Clarett, as Justin Fields. The money has always been there, but we mainly turned a blind eye to it. But if we ever thought that 5 and 4stars kid were going to OSU, Bama, etc because of the education and they weren't getting "incentives", then you're bein naive.

When I was at OSU, Pryor was in a new whip every other week. They were said to be loaners but I'm not so sure of that. On Sanders though, I am curious to see if that NIL deal is actually honored or what amount is guaranteed. No doubt he is a player you pony up for in NIL, but I would be shocked if the deal that has been discussed comes to full fruition.

There's always the promise, but the nitty gritty is when the check is in the bank and cashed....Guess you could call it writing a check before the money is in the bank. Sanders certainly sounds like a person a team goes all in on, given the LOT responsibilities for the blind side and all, but one wonders how deep the NIL pockets really are. 'Promises' from alums don't pay the bills, and collecting on a verbal promise is kinda difficult. One of my SEC/Alabama 'friends' said that all NIL did was make the SEC under the table stuff legal. He's right. To RB's point, yeah, it'll be interesting to see if there's enough money in the account to pay Sander's take. Does UT have a med school?

I agree that the amount of money may not be exactly what is paid(I would be skeptical of ALL NIL deals for HSers and high profile players). But as far the home situation for the family, a poster over on LR made a very good point. Its realistic to see a Tenn booster who owns a number of rental homes or AirBnBs renting the home to Sanders' parents for like a $1/yr. The guy was using the home as addition income anyway, so he eats possibly 3yrs in 1 less house generating income, but his team brought in a top recruit. Seems like something OSU's NIL collectives either didn't think about, or just weren't willing to do.
