Anyone have/getting it? If so, thoughts on it so far? Thinking about picking it up....

I bought it yesterday. It takes some getting the hang of it for me. I didn't play 2k12, I've been playing 2k11 for the last two years because I thought it was such a great game. In my IMO, it's more realistic than previous games for the simple fact you can't just blow by your defender and dunk it. Getting bumped actually sends you realing a bit.

They've done away with "skill points," and have added "Virtual Currency." Basically, instead being awarded skill points, you're awarded tokens. With these tokens, you can upgrade your player and so on and so forth. It's going to take a lot longer for your created player to be really really good. But I guess the challenge is the point.

They also have skill camps you can purchase and do. Basically, you can go to a Jordan camp and he'll show you some dunks/layups, or a Bird camp and he'll show you some shots. You complete the camps and you get 5 point bumps in 5 or 6 different categories. There's Jordan, Bird, Magic, Stockton, Rodman, and like 6 other legend camps you can attend. But you can only choose two camps per season, and they cost like 600 tokens.

That's all I've messed around with so far.

I haven't bought a basketball game since Kobe's game on the N64. But I downloaded this demo and I've been really impressed and will probably buy it. The thing that always drives me nuts about bball games is the dribble animations an how choppy offensive play is. This game (demo) is really good. Defensive play is pretty good overall, I have been able to stay in front of the offensive player for the most part. Obviously Westbrook will take Chalmers off the dribble from time to time but it feels competitive.

In fairness, I haven't played a basketball game in a long time, and haven't played online either so it could be that I haven't gotten far enough into this game for a good opinion.

The only problem I'm having on defense is there's almost like a delay on swatting. In 2k11, if the guy shot, you could jump pretty quick and get a hand in his face. In 2k13, you almost have to guess on the block. If you're pumpfaked, your screwed.

Online play has been pretty good for me. Not much lag and not much difference in regards to choppiness you sometimes see online. BUT, I played one cheeser who would let his computer play defense, get the rebound, and then outlet to the cherrypicker under the opposite basket. But other than that, it's been pretty solid online.

Absolutely, they've made it much more of a risk/reward move to go for the fakes.

I've had a better time with the one on one defense than in years past, the big key is not over-turboing (Fuck you, Chrome, turboing is a word ) or going for the steal.

Anyone on PS3 get it?

Picked this game up over the weekend. Eh, its ok--going to take forever to get your guy above an 80 rating.

Also--how in the world do you dunk? Is their a special button? Or does my dude just not have any hops???

unless you created him and used "athletic" than he probably can't. It's either athletic or all around where he starts with dunking at like 50. All the other choices are minimal. At least they are with PG.

a way to fast track getting more VC, is to just play 12 minute quarter exhibition games vs the computer. You'll get 600 VC just for playing. That's what I did. Do that, plus do the practice tutorial with Brandon Jennings on the opening screen, and that gives you another 1000 VC if I recall. You can only do it once. Do stuff like that because the VC carries over into different parts of the game. So if you rack up a bunch of VC, THEN create your "my career" player, you can jack up his stats pretty quickly.

Im a 3 point specialist--which means I probably cannot dunk. Another thing that irritates me is the playing time. Im averaging 14 points a game, (shoot to get hot, shoot to stay hot!!) and I still come off the bench. I was drafted 13th by Milwaukee.

Everyone still having good luck online?

The new servers seem to have made a world of difference with regards to the input lag.

I feel like my online play has slowed down and made my controls sluggish. The players have way to much momentum and takes to long to do anything. Kind of annoying because I thought it was pretty crisp the first couple weeks I played

that's what I started out as too. You can get your dunking up to 90, eventually. After creating multiple guys and just getting use to it, my final, and best attempt was getting drafted 5th by Sacramento. 3pt specialist, and I just fired up shots every time down the floor in the rookie showcase. Scored like 50 points and had 5 boards and like 8 assists.......I read where you can be picked number 1, but I don't know how much better you can play than that line and not get picked any hire.

as for playing time, do you have the quarters on 12 minutes? as you get better, your minutes will increase, obviously.
