National Chaampionship Hopes

OsUPhAn

Live while I'm young!
I still strongly believe that we can win the Natl Championship this year. Our schedule is tough and demanding, but this early lose might not kill us. Starting this week at #9 we can do a lot of leap frogging in the next few weeks. I do not want to look to far ahead, or take any games for granted, but if we continue to win, we will steadily climb the ladder to the top 3-5. And then hopefully get a Rose Bowl birth. Here are a few major games in the next weekthat will be very pertinent to our championship hopes.

Week 3
Ark at #1 USC. Hey it could happen
Rice at #2 Texas. Tejas runs away with this one
OhioU at #4 Va Tech. I don't see my Bobcats topping their monumental win
over Pitt, but thats why you play the game.
#5 Tenn at #6 Fla. Game of the week, at least on paper. The loser should likely drop out of the top Ten or at least behind OSU, assuming we win.
Louis Mon at #7 Ga. Maybe next game.
#8 Fl St. v. #17 Boston C. This is a very intriguing game. If BC can pull off the upset, OSU could possibly jump 2 spots just this week.

Obviously this is all contingent on OSU winning this weekend, but I see us jumping at least one spot if not two.
Go Bucks!

I think that if USC loses once, then we can jump ahead. If we only lose one game all year to a great Texas team, and USC loses to anybody on their schedule, then we should be ahead of them. I don't think I am being a Homer here. Just USC doesn't play anyone as good as Texas. I dont see Texas losing twice though thats for sure. Maybe once but....we shall see.

I hope you are right. I just can't see the media choosing a re-match over the potential 3-peat.

wow, some of you guys need to slow down and think. its better to lose early in the year, rather than later. if usc loses one game this year, then they are out of the title picture, texas is a much better team than oklahoma, but stoops has browns number.

i think it will be va tech, texas, and ohio state in the picture at the end of the year. i only chose va tech because they dont play anyone, and vick could drastically improve every game.

I applaud scheduling these types of games early. Texas is the best team we will face this year, and we should have won. The rest of the season doesn't look quite so daunting now. The pressure is off the Bucks and on everyone else to stay a game up on us. No team in the country wants a piece of this defense. Period.

It could happen. We almost have to hope that Texas wins out and everyone else loses that way our loss doesn't look as bad as another teams.

There are so many scenerios to talk about right now that it's almost pointless. We know that we have to jump 7 of the teams that are currently ahead of us and also hope an undefeated that is currently behind us doesn't doesn't jump ahead of us for whatever reason (Louisville or Notre Dame???).

Bottom line, we have to win out and hope we get some help.

Win through mid-October, and OSU is up to #5 almost automatically, due to top 10 teams playing each other. Computer polls aren't out yet, so who knows what's up there. Also, the Harris poll (?) or whatever the other human BCS poll is, hasn't come out yet either, and won't for a few more weeks.

Right now, OSU has a better chance than ANY one-loss team right now, and the rest of the schedule is favorable. Wins at home against Iowa and on the road at PSU (both within the next month) will have most of the tough games out of the way.

More importantly, the Bucks can win an outright Big Ten title, which should be the #1 goal at this point.

You have to be kidding me. You cant say if USC loses one game that they will not be in the title game. i dont think if they lose to arizona state this year that they will drop out of the title picture. the media loves them and if you remember last year, they were so far ahead of everyone in terms of poll votes, a lose would almost do the same thing.

I can see texas losing twice this year. they will choke against oklahoma and get beat and i can also see them losing in a game where they thought would be a blowout ie last year when they played kansas and only won because of VY in the fourth running 26 yards on a 4 and 24

-Maybe I'm just goofy but I see us needing UT to win out so our narrow loss boosts us in the pollsters eyes.

-The SEC teams could all very well 2 loss each other and I just don't think FSU or VT are good enough.

-So in my mind it really comes down to USC having either 2 losses or 1 really bad one late to go with some less than dominant performances leading up to the loss.

-Of course another topic that no one is mentioning is that we don't have to win out...we have to look good doing it. We must blast everyone we play before scUM. I think they'll give us a mullign on that one.

-Iowa and UM losing OOC really, really, really hurt us.

-Don't worry about the one game at a time stuff, we're just fans and have zero effect on what is going to happen. Plus it's part of the fun of college football season to talk about polls and the NC race.

actually no, im not kidding you. everyone knows the pac-10 is weak. osu will win the remainder of their games, and climb back into the hunt, while if usc loses again, they will drop farther than you think.

the sec is tough as hell this year, those teams are going to just beat the shit out of each other all season long.
