MO CB Toriano Pride (Clemson Verbal)

Being ranked as the No. 14 cornerback in the country isn’t something that will upset many prospects, and it shouldn’t. That’s a lofty ranking and brings with it high expectations for success at the next level, but Pride — and the high-major schools recruiting him — don’t see that many players ahead of him.

Just sayin': Who is recruiting the athlete actually tells you more about his potential than the so called rankings, etc.

From quotes I’ve read, it sounds like Clemson’s favorable depth chart and path to early playing time is the big sell here.

I know Hancock and JJ were great pickups at CB in the last class, but it's interesting to hear depth chart mentioned because I think ours is far from daunting, especially by the time Pride would get here. Not that it will make or break the class, but really hoping we can make up ground and land Pride, he's legit.

Clemson landed 1 corner in each of the last 2 classes with none committed this year.

tOSU took 5 in the last two classes combined with 3 committed this year.

I can see his line of thinking. I do hope he reconsiders though, since Coombs likes to rotate. Can never have enough talented corners.

Didn't realize that is all Clemson took at CB recently. But you're right, Coombs rotates lot and that's what I was kind of thinking, plenty of chances for early time in that scheme.

Committed to Clemson

Pride chose the ACC powerhouse over his finalists in Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon and Missouri.

“Every time I’m at Clemson I get a really good vibe and always get that feeling when I’m there,” Pride told 247Sports. “I love Coach (Mike) Reed and Caoch (Brent) Venables and Coach Swinney, they’re family oriented. I talked to Coach Reed and Coach Venables every other day. They make me feel like a priority.”

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Pride is tabbed by 247Sports as the country’s No. 10 cornerback and No. 71 prospect overall. He's slotted as the No. 23 cornerback and No. 187 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite. Following his senior season he’ll play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

Pride sees an opportunity to contribute early at Clemson.

“That’s one of the schools not loaded up at my position,” Pride said. “Early playing time is a good change there for me. They don’t have a lot of people at my spot and they compete for a National Championship every year. That’s something I look forward too.”
