If Day doesn’t feel like he’s carrying is weight on the recruiting trail and he thinks he’s holding his hand through coaching a quarterback then I’m fine with Day letthing walk. That’s a assuming that’s true though.

Just for the sake it, what did he sell Day on then?

There is no reason to go from OC on a successful team to one ya might be fired next year

Is herman gonna let him call plays? Because he seems to be in the mold of Meyer who may not call the plays directly but put in extreme influence. If he was going for a D minded guy or a CEO style head coach it would be one thing. But one offenseive wonder to another that might end up fired soon when you are at the top of the heap seems like a bad move.

This is what popped in my head. If Day is going to have a heavy hand in QB development then get a young gun that will do what he’s told and happily stick around for 5 years as just a QB coach. He seems to have the ability to coach QBs. Only problem is Dennis may not be able to recruit.

Over the coming days, we will be breaking down possible candidates for Penn State's Offensive Coordinator opening, and why we want them to get the gig. Yesterday, Craig laid out the case for SMU's Rhett Lashlee. Today, it's Ohio State quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich.

WHY I WANT HIM:
Mike Yurcich was actually a name that we tossed around back in 2015 when John Donovan was let go and Joe Moorhead was brought on. His track record at Oklahoma State speaks for itself, and his connections to Pennsylvania with a lengthy coaching career at both Edinboro and Shippensburg should not be overlooked either.

While in Stillwater, the Pokes averaged 38 points and over 478 yards per game. Four of Oklahoma State's 10 best offensive years in program history came with Yurcich calling the shots and coaching its signal callers. The 2017 edition, however was special. Led by quarterback Mason Rudolph, the Cowboys led the nation in passing at over 389 yards per game, and were second in total offense with over 568 yards per game. They featured a pair of 1,000 yard receivers, and a 1,000 yard rusher as well. Rudolph took home the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, while receiver James Washington won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver.

Ryan Day hired him away from the other OSU earlier this year, and together with Kevin Wilson, the trio put together the nation's most potent scoring offense (48.7 points per game), behind Yurcich pupil Justin Fields.

Just sayin': Whether you like Yurich or not you can't despite the fact that Ohio State's passing game did real well this year. In addition, somebody recruited well too, they land 2 top QBs in the 2020 recruiting class.
