2021 MI OL/DT Rocco Spindler (God, Country, Notre Dame Verbal)

As of today, the 247Sports Crystal Ball is split between two of the five finalists. Of the 10 predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, five have him heading to Michigan, while the other five believe he'll end up at Notre Dame.

OK, it doesn't look promising for this guy to be a Buckeye?

I know the consensus is that we have ground to make up and I’ve heard the Domers likely lead but this guy is legit and landing him would certainly help offset any potential misses that have been trending.

This guy plays nasty and tough. Me likey.

Right there with ya,Show. After the Latham debacle I've decided everyone's a free agent in my mind despite these "consensus" guys. Much less heartache that way. What first sold me on Spindler is his wrestling background..like you say, nasty and tough. Secondly,he's from Clarkston (a former scUM stronghold) but doesn't seem to be "trending" there. I like recruits that do their own research and then make their OWN decisions. This guy is indeed legit!

Spindler talked about his day at Ohio State at the conclusion of the Buckeyes’ camp.

“It was unbelievable,” Spindler told Bucknuts. “Coach (Ryan) Day, it was my first time seeing him in-person. Man, he’s a class act. He’s really down to earth, really personable to talk to. We share the same hobbies. He likes hunting and fishing and so do I. He’s a really nice guy. He’s easy to talk to.

“And coach (Greg) Mattison, I know him from the team up north. Him coming down here, he’s still the same exact guy, really personable. He’s one of my favorite coaches.”

Since that visit Spindler returned to Columbus for the Ohio State-Penn State game in late November. He made the trip south with both parents and to say things went well would have been a huge understatement.

“The game day experience was unbelievable,” Spindler said. “The game, the players in it, the coaches, it was unbelievable. Coach Day brought me in his office and we talked for a good ten minutes. Coach (Greg) Stud(rawa) and coach Mattison, we talked for a long time.”

Spindler had planned to make an official visit to Ohio State. He was going to make the visit the weekend of May 1-3. However, because of coronavirus related NCAA restrictions, the visit didn’t happen.

But an Ohio State official visit will eventually happen. In late May Spindler announced his final five and said he would make official visits to all five schools. The five are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State and LSU.

However, there has been a rumor that Spindler had decided to announce a commitment this weekend. Today Spindler has put that rumor to rest.

“Just wanted to let everyone know that I will NOT be committing Anytime soon. Not until I take all 5 officials. Which will be... Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn state, LSU,” Spindler posted on his Twitter account today.
