I love the pageantry, recruiting and NCs of NCAA. That's why I buy it every year.

However, the gameplay is years behind Madden. My buddy and I play both (and import our NCAA class and draft the kids in Madden).

The way the defense plays is mindboggling. They will regularly not tackle a guy they are running alongside. Or they will be standing and waiting for a lob pass, and then move out of the way at the last second. Don't even get me on the horrible pursuit angles.

The impact player is a fun idea, but it gets annoying that you can count on them breaking a tackle 98% of the time. Not a fan of how arcade-ish they made the game. Tapping A to break a tackle is dumb if you ask me. I think you should be able to come in with your head down and ram thru someone, but not sit there for 2 seconds tapping A, then suddenly breaking free and going for good yardage.

NCAA lets you get away with the same types of plays, and get away on athleticism. I find the defense to be much more intelligent, and therefore it requires better playcalling. The defense also adjusts better to what you are doing, especially if you are trying to overload one side of the line or leave it empty.
The only reason I like Madden is because of Create-A-Play. If NCAA had it, I probably wouldn't even buy Madden.
I don't think you can use create-a-play for anythign but play now (ie not for franchise games).
