Rams headed to Los Angeles for 2016, Chargers have option to follow

Stan Kroenke's stadium in LA is going to happen.

After a 21-year absence, the NFL is finally returning to Los Angeles. The league's 32 owners voted on Tuesday to send the Rams back to the city where they spent 49 years of their existence.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora has reported that NFL owners officially approved the Rams' relocation in a 30-2 vote.

The relocation vote is a huge victory for Rams owner Stan Kroenke who had been doing everything in his power to make sure his team would be able to leave St. Louis after the 2015 season. When the Rams turned in their relocation application in early January, they noted that any team trying to survive in St. Louis would suffer "financial ruin."

For the Chargers, the vote means that the team still has the option to try and work things out with the city of San Diego. The NFL has given the Chargers until January 2017 to negotiate a lease with the Rams in Inglewood. If the Chargers haven't made a relocation decision by Jan. 16, 2017, then the Raiders will have the option to join the Rams in LA.

Kroenke bought $100m in land and will drop a $1.86b privately funded stadium on it, while St. Louis citizens still have to pay the outstanding principal of $28.6m (~$6m/year) through 2021 for the ex-TWA/Edward Jones Dome, which was just built in 1995 to lure the Rams from LA.

Americans should remember this the next time 'poor' owners ask for public financing and favorable lease terms on a new stadium or else.

I'm also sure these guys, http://www.fieldofschemes.com will have plenty to say over the next week or so.

How owners continue to swindle the public for funds is truly a fascinating study into the psyche of humans.

NFL already has Los Angeles Rams listed on its website

Well, that didn't take long at all. Within an hour of NFL owners' voting to approve the Rams' move from St. Louis back to Los Angeles, the league's official website already had changed their listing from St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles Rams.

Strangely enough, they list Anaheim Stadium as the home for the Los Angeles Rams, but there has been no official announcement on what stadium will host the team until the new stadium in Inglewood is completed.

Los Angeles Rams: Matt Leinart Wants Out of the Hot Tub and Into the Huddle

The Los Angeles Rams don’t need to draft a QB in the first round. They’ve got one willing to walk on...

Hey Jeff Fisher I'll be working out here in the South Bay. Give me a call! #footballinLA #neighbors

Orrrrrrrr, the Rams could get a newer, more exciting, better at actual football version of Matt Leinart....

yuck.....I thought he was overrated in Tennessee, and he hasn't shown me much with the Rams either.
If he doesn't turn it around quickly, he'll be gone. LA will go to the games for the novelty at first, but after a year or two, if they're not winning, they'll be playing in front of 25K fans. LA probably takes a back seat only to Miami in the fair weather fan index. Kroenke is probably quite aware of that.
