Let's talk speed OPEN FIELD speed!

Where's YOUR Gold Pants?
Looking at these videos made me wonder one thing...how fast is Teddy? Well I whipped out my trusty "punting stopwatch" used for hangtimes. Granted Teddy is in full stride on most of these but they are also at some angles (some more than others). The straightest "beeline" is once he turns the corner on the UM punt return. I did each of these a few times and came up with these rough numbers, but remember he's in full stride most of the time and going at an angle too! I got these all from viewing Mili's Season Highlight video. All are measured from the 40 going in!

MSU 4.55 to the corner of the EZ (angled of course)
PSU 4.37 to the house...slight angle
Wisky 4.66 angled
MICHIGAN...once he heads up the sideline and avoides Finley he reaches the EZ in 3.98 seconds! Remember he had to do all that "dancing" once he caught the punt and then sprinted to the sideline about 30yds upfield and then he still had all this (3.98 last 40yds) in the tank! Amazing!

HAYN

We all know, in the open field this kid is uncatchable!

Great thread......... I did the same thing as you and have come up with very close and similar numbers.......... I believe teddy ginn has some outrageous speed and he has proved it during games......His 40 yrd. dash may bot be too accurate b/c it doesnt involve game speed. u have a field full of 11 men chasing him , he will beat anyone in the country....... he has agility and acceleration that ppl. would die for ........Hail thee Teddy Ginn because he will be the next Ohio state heisman winner............ :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu:

When they measure 40 times, do the players get a running start? I thought they stood just behind the start line and waiting for the "GO" signal, then ran like a greased grape to the end line. If that's true, Ginn is getting an unfair advantage with his running starts.

I've been curious to see his times. Good thread. But I also think, "He burns everyone, anyway, so why see the numbers?"

yes. HAYN states that these are skewed because of a running start.
