Where is all the senior leadership at on this team? I have yet to see anyone try to get the players fired up and into the game. The captains seem to be content with the way things are, because you dont see any of them trying to take a leadership role on this team, and show it with thier play and intensity.

I think that the leadership will have to come in the coming week. It was a tough loss, and we have a tough opponent coming up. The Captains will need to make sure that the team takes lessons from today, puts the game behind them, and buckle down for Wiscy preparation.

so because we lost.....we have no leadership. the leadership-cam was on and it showed people just sitting on their asses.

fucking newbie bucknutters
First off, has any type of senior leadership been shown yet this year besides Nugent stepping up and hitting field goals? Dont think so. Secondly if this team had leadership dont you think the team would be able to come out and at least be motivated for a nationally televised night game???

In response to the fucking newbie bucknutters comment...just because my post count isnt as high as yours doesnt mean I cant make some very valid points. Not one single post I have had looks anything like you would see at bucknuts, I make valid points and am willing to back them up. If anyone is a "bucknutter" wouldnt it be you? With all the fuck this fuck that, we fucking suck that you have been saying tonight after this loss, wouldnt that place you more in the "bucknut" category then me?

I think the main problem with Senior leadership is the lack of Seniors. Plus Ross just can't seem to run. I think he is trying hard..Maybe to hard. He just cant get the job done. He was doing a pretty decent job at pass blocking when he was in today. When will Fox be back on the field...I think he is the true leader of the defense.

Wouldn't you agree that one of the main leaderhip roles have to come from the QB position ? Doesn't matter who the captains are at the moment thats most important. Fact is he is our QB and will be for these next three years. No matter who the captains or how ever many seniors there are, you need a big time leader at QB to give the leadership YOU are looking for. He is maturing and he is learning, but most of all he is young and the other players love him. He has to earn their loyalty as a leader though by consistent playmaking. Until that happens its going to look like this . Coach Tressel and Justin Zwick are working on it !!! It will come. Most Buckeye fans don't seem to be that patient though haha
BK27 please tell me you didn't kick your dog or the neighbors again ?? haha KIDDING !!!

Sure the QB is the natural leader of a team I agree with you there. But where is the defensive leadership? The last 2 years CK didnt get the defense going emotionally and mentally , that was Mike Doss, and Matt Wilhelms job, Dustin Fox could very well be the missing piece that this defense needs leadership wise, but in his absence I dont see anyone stepping up at all.

I'll agree with you on that, but not totally :) . The defenses captain/leader is out with an injury though- Fox, but yes they do lack that. My point was that I thought OSU's "issues" are more the lack of leadership on Offense. Our offense had no control of that game and the leadership there has to come from the QB . That was my point. Our defense isn't terrible, I think its more our offense has some major growing pains and they lack the leadership you were inquiring about !!! IT will come ... I have faith in that .. just hurts now.

I'm afraid I have to say it wan't the kids' fault tonight, with leadership or anything else. Leadership starts with the coaching staff, and other than Tressel saying "Come on, there's 15 minutes left" at the start of the fourth quarter, I didn't see any in terms of effective game plans, halftime adjustments, or play calling. They could have had Chris Spielman, Shane Conlan, Mike Alstott and Rex Kern out there tonight, and I don't think it would have made a whole hell of a lot of difference on the scoreboard or in the performance level, and those are 4 of the best team leaders any team in the Big Ten has ever had.

I am not saying it was all his fault but it definitely contibuted and we'll have to disagree as too wether it was a big part of his respinsibilty or not. I still think the game goes as he comands it and in this game he didn't take over the game at all. YES some of that had to do with the gameplan and lack of adjustments too. You asked about the leadership and one of the most important parts lacking was that on offense. I am totally not saying the game should be put totally on his shoulders. That can definitely be spread around.
I have faith though that it will come. Maybe not until Ross graduates (even though it pains me not to see him do well but GOD comon kid... oh well he still a good kid, just not a great RB). Hopefully alot of people, including Coach Tressel and the offense and as you said the leader/seniors will pick it up after this reality check !!!

 Thank you Clarity for letting us get drunk and VENT here hahaha

Instead of showdown Saturday, I think we will call this meltdown Sunday. Maybe everyone should just chill the fuck out, watch some NFL, and start their bitch mode on Monday, when everyone's had a chance to digest(or regurgitate) this loss of epic proportions.

edit:for inability to type.
