I may not be Vince Lombardi but I did play RB in college, so I do have a little idea how long it takes to learn a new system in college. And I have coached at one of the winningest high schools in Ohio. That doesn't mean I know it all, but yeah I played and coached, and I made some mistakes on playing kids and figured it out late. So you can act like I am a key board warrior or whatever and don't know what I am talking about, that is fine.

Maybe you can state your football background? For all I know you are Urban Meyer.

I just hate to see a kid go through what Justin has gone through, persereve, and then not see the field when he deserves to. He was incredible against NW and made play after play and seemed to win the game for us on that side of the ball. Then I watch vs Clemson, and the second play of the game Tuf is trying to cover Etienne man to man and gets burnt. Hilliard never gets in until the third series and immediately makes plays only to get back to the sideline. It just isn't right. The best players should play. You can believe Tuf is the best player. That is fine. I am not going to tell you to shut up.

Honest question: I’ve not re-watched the game, but when Hilliard came on, who did he replace? I didn’t notice much of Browning out there after the first couple drives, so I assume it was Browning that was replaced rather than Borland?

I made same assumption... but I watched the game again... Browning was struggling a bit.. I assume it was Covid-recovery-related because it reminded me of Myles Garrett.. looked gassed trying to accelerate like on Trevor's TD run... altho Browning was awesome when they put him at DE pass rush... but Tuf had a much better game than I thought... Bucks made adjustments to prevent Tuf in iso's... rarely the sole tackler but in numerous tackles combining with others...

Hilliard was everywhere... I'd say the best LB play of the day but Warner had a helluva day too... overall LB group was fab.. by far best game this year for them...

If Day calls me, I'm telling him "Hilliard should not come off the field.. you figure it out"

As for Hilliard, we are all glad he is having an awesome year. May be having a defensive “quarterback” in there knowing how to help others getting in the right position to make plays is paying off.

Lets be honest here. I recall hearing a lot of calls to give Steele Chambers more carries a few weeks into the season bc neither RB looked very impressive. Master looked slow and wasn't seeing holes, and Trey didn't look as elusive and the explosive burst we thought he had just wasn't there. He lacked the breakaway speed, and his ability to break tackles and his overall balance was poor early on when yards were there for the taking.

It's easy to look back and say Sermon should have been the man all along from what he has done the last month, but he didn't show any of what he is doing now until these last 2-3 games. Trey did nothing over the 1st 4 games to make me say he should have been getting the bulk of the carries all along. And if you are saying that now, I have to believe you are lying yourself or were watching a different Buckeye team than me.

I love what each brings to the table and they compliment each other very well in this offense.... but I also think we were spoiled with a work-horse, 2000 yard back last year and neither of them is J.K., which they don't have to be. We have a potent passing attack to go along with a very good complimentary running game (add Fields in there too).

I'm really trying to enjoy what these guys are and what they can do rather than what they are not and what they can't do. I've been particularly harsh on Tuf this year and last. He obviously has some weaknesses in his game, like his overall speed, quickness and ability to cover out of the backfield, but damn, is he instinctive and decisive with his reads and a solid tackler when he gets his hands on you. I think the match-up vs. Bama favors his skill-set even moreso than the Clemson game and he's going to have to play a huge role in slowing down Bama's run game. Screen game is an area they could hit us with if caught in bad mismatches, but I think all 4 of Hilliard, Werner, Browning and Tuf have all proven they deserve plenty of snaps in this one. Even if Bama has success in the air, I don't think they are stupid enough to abandon the run like they did the last go around, so Tuf and Hilliard are going to have plenty of opportunities to make plays.

Though the NCAA's decision to grant all players an additional year of eligibility would allow Hilliard to return for an unprecedented seventh year at Ohio State if he wanted to, his acceptance of a Senior Bowl invitation indicates he plans to move on to the NFL. Hilliard, who earned a master's degree from Ohio State in December, said last week that it was “completely” his intention to move on from the Buckeyes after the national championship game.
