Tackett Curtis (LB Southern Cal, transfer to Wisconsin)

Between the other 2 schools, I feel pretty good about this one.

Ditto. I would be pretty surprised actually if we don't prevail over the other 2, I think we are firmly in the driver's seat here. With the run we've had on DBs, it will be nice to turn the focus on getting Tackett's commitment (not that the staff hasn't been coming after him hard, just sayin' the classis narrowing down with many spots filled and the defensive side of the ball is starting to look awfully good). I am about to put up my updated class prediction and Tackett will be on it. Adding this dude to Hicks, Powers and Styles (I see Styles winding up at LB with his frame) would be downright filthy. Not only are those guys have the size to blow people up in the middle, they all have a ton of athleticism where I don't think the LB position will be such a liability in coverage like we have seen in recent years (some of that could have been scheme, but still).

I agree with everything that has been said. Huge piece to what Knowles wants and is doing on the defensive side of the ball. Looks like a great potential fit for his defense and would be a great addition. Absolute Ball Hawk!!!!

With as much attention as his recruitment has received in the press clickings lately, and with all the dominoes that have recently fallen into place and positivite momentum around the program, for him not to have pulled the trigger yet, you have to be somewhat concerned that the other 2 are still serious considerations. I thought this was going to be a done deal long ago.

I feel like the Buckeyes have been in a great spot for his eventual pledge all along. Hopefully it's just him and his family doing their due diligence, checking off all the boxes, with OSU checking off the most at the end.

Go Bucks!!!

As I’ve stated here before, I’m a football nerd. I’ve watched/read almost everything there is available about Jim Knowles defense. Tackett is the perfect player to play MLB in his defense. The way he schemes open a free hitter in almost every run package is exactly what Tackett does now. He sees a hole and attacks it. Perfect read and react player for a great read and react scheme.

That would be a bad look considering the amount of effort we put into his recruitment.

Understandable if an La. kid ended up staying home with LSU or one of the SE powers like Clemson, Georgia or Bama.
But to lose him to a school 2000 miles away that has basically sucked since he was in diapers would be shocking.

It is what it is. Could be about NIL. Which we now know from the complaints of Jordan Addison is most likely a lie.

Since WI had a terrific defense (#1) last year, this looks like he is picking out stellar defensive coaches. Knowles is in that category based on his record last year. USC with Grinch is a little more of a head scratcher, but hey, we hired Grinch once. Maybe LSU doesn't work for him because of their record, and maybe he hates rival Alabama, which was only 7th in total defense last year.

I'm not trying to sound like sour grapes when I say this, and I'll use a disclaimer that I think Curtis is talented. But I also think that his highlight film of laying people out is what got people so hype, but there is little film of him tackling in space, and covering offensive players. Though it's fun watching him splatter poor HSers in a small division where we question that same small conference talent against Arch Manning, Curtis doesn't face the same question marks. IMO, Curtis is more Eichenberg than he is Chambers, both are very talented LBers, but one is a liablility against spread offenses, and the other can't be removed from the field because he can just as easily lay the wood to a RB but also cover a slot or TE in the middle. I thought Bowles was better and preferred him, but figured that Curtis was a more realistic option as a Buckeye.

Bowles is better. He will be a stud for Georgia. Curtis isn’t that far behind and Knowles made him the primary target at LB for a reason. This one isn’t over.
