With USC transfer Parker Lewis still not yet eligible to play, Ohio State turned to Fielding – a walk-on freshman – to handle kickoff responsibilities against Notre Dame. He did so effectively, sending two of his kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks while the other two led to tackles by Trayanum and Xavier Johnson inside the 15-yard line.

LOL, I was like "Who the, what the ..." on the first kickoff. Kid has a bright future it appears which is excellent for the special teams and keeps Ruggles leg fresh and he can concentrate on not missing anymore field goals this year.

His accuracy, elevation and distance were impressive. Anyone other than me wonder what might have been if Fielding was chosen to attempt a 50 yarder vs UGa last year?
Not at all, I thought the same thing. Even before the kick against UGA given we need the distance limitations of Ruggles. But not going to linger anymore on that, Fielding looks to have real potential and kicker was a huge question mark.
