Jeff Hafley (DC Green Bay Packers)

Hafley is about to flip one of scUM's recruits. One of the many New England kids they have recruited for the 2021 class. Directly from that powerhouse high school Noble and Greenough.

I have wondered when he was going to start being a thorn in the side of Jimmy's New England prep school strategy. In that endeavor, I wish him nothing but the best.

Bets on the DFBIA response? BC bagmen/online classes or Jimmy cooled on the recruit?

What an opener for Hafley....had his defense playing amazing. Forced 6 turnovers in a 26-6 win over Duke. Their offense won't be good enough to compete in ACC this year, but the guy knows defense. They were excellent.
Yeah, I think we all knew about the defense. And I doubt he gets a good offense anytime soon. BC at best gets a few decent NE skill position players but little talent on the OL

Funny enough, pre-season All ACC RT, Mike Vrabel’s son plays for him.

Their o-line is actually decent....QB play is gonna be a huge issue though. Jurkovec put up decent stats but you can tell he just doesn’t have “it”.

Wasn't Jurkovic the 5star can't miss QB prospect of his class that never gave OSU a chance?

Yeah, he was a laser show in HS and set Pennsylvania records for passing. Amazing HS player.

And at ND, he apparently developed, almost the yips for a QB. Just lost ability to throw ball consistently at all. They had to rebuild him but he was still far from the guy they anticipated they were getting. I don’t know if it’s mechanical changes or what, but expectation was not Ian Book was easily going to be the better guy and starting over him, which is how it played out.

BC took a small chance on him hoping he’d regain his confidence and ability. He had a stronger half, but the ball does come out funny....lot of floaters. Had multiple throws that should’ve been picked in 1st half. Once BC built a lead and were playing from ahead, is when he really made a few decent throws.

IMO, you could still see the scar tissue from whatever happened at ND. There are moments of “WTF was that?”.

Anyways, that defense was lights out. Curious to see how good it can be. The analysts I watched after the game all
commented how good the secondary was and how difficult they pressure they brought was. That made me smile....Hafley really is a phenomenal DB coach.

Gonna be even harder now that Michigan is poaching all the local talent.

Thats true to a degree. But if BC has a modicum of success, Hafley can sell water to a whale.

He was #1 recruiter in country at OSU (and I recognize OSU sells itself in many ways, but he was even rated higher than Hartline). He’s just a personable guy who comes across as almost the direct opposite of Harbaugh. I think Hafley will have to battle Michigan for some kids, but he will win his share, especially on the defensive side, with his track record of developing players. And I promise he’s way more fun to play for than weird-ass Harbaugh.

But I’m likely getting ahead of myself. It was one win against Duke....Miami, Clemson, ND, and all the mid-level ACC teams will present challenges throughout the year. But I like his chances to make BC a fringe top 25 team while being known for great defense.

FSU hired Mike Norevell and I kept telling my FSU contacts that they should be focused on Hafley....and they’d laugh. “Not enough experience, are you crazy?” Sometimes you can just tell with certain guys....he is one of them.

Hopefully on Halloween Hafley will help us out by coming up with a defensive gameplan for Clemson. It will be interesting to see if they can slow down the Clemson O with BC's talent level .....
He can’t but, to your point, he can certainly give ideas on how to do it with equal talent.

Hairball can only get so many of them, he's also going to have to get some national guys and local MI and OH guys if he wants to still compete in the B1G and make the Game respectable. There's still enough MA, RI, DE, etc kids for Hafley to get, not to mention a few PA and VA recruits.
