Iowa State gives HC Matt Campbell 8-year extension

Iowa State has given Matt Campbell an eight-year extension, keeping the fifth-year head coach in Ames, Iowa, until 2028.

Further, the school vowed to provide Campbell $3 million in salary enhancements for his coaching staff over the next three years.

"Coach Campbell has always put investments in his student-athletes and football staff before his own personal gains," ISU director of athletics Jamie Pollard said in a statement. "That is the essence of servant leadership and is what makes Coach Campbell so successful."

Contract terms were not disclosed. Campbell earned an average of $3.5 million annually on his previous deal, which ran through 2025.

Seems like a 3-year extension to me, from 5 years to 8.

The same thing those cowards do at the end of every year:

1. Get curb-stomped by the Buckeyes
2. Get embarrassed in their 3rd tier bowl game
3. Make excuses for why they lost 4 or 5 games
4. Lose 10-20 players to the transfer portal and rationalize it by claiming they weren't true "Michigan Men who were willing to compete"
5. Brag about their incoming recruiting class and how it will finally put them back in the "National Championship conversation"
