DE Caden Curry (Official Thread)

Rivals $ - 2022 DE Caden Curry is up for the challenge of competing at Ohio State

Dave Lackford is really high on this kid and after watching some film I totally see why. Definitely in the mold of a Bosa or a Cam Heyward...a kid who is big enough to play inside but is fast/quick/twitchy/athletic enough to play outside.

ITA with your analysis. Watching his tape I love the quick feet and the physicality. Just wonder about the level of opponent. Aren't the best Indy athletes in open gym during fb season?

Not necessarily. Though it doesn't help that Indy only has a small handful of good teams (Center Grove, Ben Davis, Warren Central, Cathedral and Avon) and the rest of the state is just average to bad

Didn't get the opponent name tonight but it couldn't have been one of that "small handful" because Caden's team blew them out. Wiltfong was there and posted some of Caden's plays on his site. He had 2 sacks in 1st Q and several hurries but you could tell the OLs really weren't into blocking him. 2nd Q he had 2 TFLs and was pulled in the 3rd. He did speak to The Fong briefly and said the schools recruiting him the hardest are Ohio St., Oregon, and Penn St. with Ohio St. recruiting him the hardest.

They played Decatur Central, and no they're not one of the small handful. Though they're a decent team that usually makes the playoffs.

Caden interviewed by Birm...has a good relationship with the OSU coaches as they have been there for him "more than others". Mom's side of the family has ties to Columbus area and grandparents saw the Bucks in the Rose Bowl back in the day. Loves L.J. as a coach because his players play dominant and fast. Would like to play like the Bosas. Recruits have been texting him"constantly". Is still wide open but when visits are allowed again OSU will be a priority.

VIRTUAL VISITS MAKING AN IMPACT
I don’t think this recruitment will wrap up until Curry is able to make visits. In the meantime, Ohio State has continued to make an impact through virtual Zoom visits.

“It’s definitely helpful having that rather than nothing,” Curry said. “You don’t know what you’re going into if you don’t have that, so having everything online and being able to see it through the screen it’s been really nice. It kind of gives me a perception of what it’s gonna look like and what it’s gonna feel like. It’s been really nice.

“They’ve shown me the weight room, nutrition, education, just how it’d be to be a daily player there and all the assets you get up there.”

I don't know what the best scenario for landing Curry is now. ND making the CFP and getting waxed again to continue the same narrative that's been in place for years or have them lose a game or two down the stretch and not even make it at all, which is unlikely?

TBH, I don't know what took ND so long to offer him. Hopefully OSU believing in him much earlier and the relationships he's already built with the OSU staff will win out in the end.

Even If they get there and lose, Curry could feel he is the added piece to help them get over the hump and compete for and win a NC.

Both scenarios you gave are realistic (the first one moreso), but how do you turn down LJsr(im wearing my scarlet colored glasses, I admit it) and watch guys like the Bosas, Chase Young, and Jalyn Holmes have NFL success and not want to be apart of that path. To each his own, but something tells me that Ryan Day will win his conference and an NC before Brian Kelly
