What’s the QB competition like at IMG this year? Is he just walking in to an open starting position or will he have to earn it?

This kid would've probably been the starter but will have to wait a year.

Mccarthy's main competition seems to be:

Mccarthy is rated higher, but will be in for a battle with the former FSU commit whos coming back from injury

Shane Morris 2.0?
Both are undersized; not particularly athletic; from small, white, suburban, Catholic schools; and played against questionable competition in high school.

EDIT: To clarify, McCarthy "earned" his 5-star rep playing at Nazareth Academy in Lagrange, Illinois. As a senior, he transferred to IMG, where he completed just 58% of his passes (not a good indicator of success at the next level).

This... exactly. He didn't have a bad year down at IMG with limited games, but it was pretty limited. The competition that he faced at Naz was really not great. It's not like there's great HS football out here to begin with, but even the public schools they play with the Naz schedule is pretty cream-puff.

How many bracelets, though?
