If you are on IE8 or below, you may find pages skipping to the reply box rather than the first unread post. IE8 defaults to focus on the rich text editor, and this overrides the code to show the first unread post.

Either of these options should fix the issue.

Option A) Go to your Profile > Settings > Preferences and uncheck"Use the rich text editor to create and edit messages"

Option B) Use the Compatibility View button in your browser (IE8)
