HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Alabama, over the last decade, has won 5 national championships. They are the greatest dynasty in the modern football era. However, in that time, they have lost 3 games to their rivals, Auburn.

So let’s say over the next 10 years, Ryan Day is something like 6-4 against TTUN, but has 4 national titles in that span. But not just that. Let’s say those 4 wins TTUN has against Ohio State gets them back to national relevance. Now they are a playoff contender most years.

How would you all feel about that type of decade from Coach Day?

Change that to MichSt and I'm on board. Fuck Xichigan! UTQTFS!!!

“When you’re talking to them in recruiting, you’re bringing them here because of the tradition, because of the culture and you’re allowing them to choose the school for the right reasons. Not talking them into coming here,” Day told Eleven Warriors in an interview this week. “If you talk someone into coming here and it doesn’t go exactly the way that you planned, they’re gonna leave. And so we ask all the time, when they commit, you’re choosing the school for the right reasons? Which means when things get hard, you gotta stick it out.

“Maybe that’s not everybody’s recruiting pitch, but that’s ours, because it is gonna get hard. You are gonna question whether you want to be here. But if you choose it for the right reasons, then you’re gonna make it work when times get tough. And it doesn’t always work out. There’s still guys who want to have opportunities other places, just like everybody else. But I think that’s really important moving forward in the next few years.”

...

Day's wife, Nina, told The Dispatch on Tuesday in a prized exclusive that her husband has coached with a beard only once during a season. That came in 2016 when he was quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers. They went 2-14.

...

She said she'll miss it. She likes how he looks with it.

"He looks a little bit more scruffy," Nina said. "He's got a little bit of a babyface, and he's got (the skin condition) rosacea. I find it funny that people think he puts makeup on because he has red cheeks. But he actually has rosacea, so when he doesn't have the beard, his red cheeks really kind of blossom."

...

Calling their own story a “prized exclusive”

ok, I get it. Not everyone gets an interview with Nina

I would’ve noticed that whether or not you patted yourself on the back for it

How far have newspapers fallen when they now seem to not understand one of the things that every decent father teaches his son(s): That which is discovered is appreciated more than that which is declared.

Because Tim May asked a question, Bill Rabinowitz had to spend a day hammering out an article for the dispatch about the football coach's beard.

Just spitballing here... but I imagine it was tongue-in-cheek.
