HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Ryan Day likely needs an overhaul at the coaching spots on both OL and DL, preferably with younger talent that would chew nails and spit glass. But, that's what every team needs, those dudes don't grow on trees. Frye can't recruit. LJ can recruit his ass off but now, can't coach? Ouch.

Day is young and if his heart can take it, he'll be here long enough to win at least one title, could even be this year if the right heads get knocked around. The Secondary and LB are in good hands. The RB and WR are in outstanding hands. Fix the lines and lets fucking go already

This is an aside, so mods feel free to move, but I really don't think we need to go young with positional coaches, especially on the line. I look at a guy like Brian Callahan with Minnesota, who is 55'ish, and how he has consistently developed top tier OL...John Michael Schmitz, Faalele, Ersery...and that was 3 straight years. Schmitz wasn't even a top 1000 kid, Faalele was a 3*/low 4*, Ersery was a 3* barely a top 1000 kid. We really don't have to think too hard or re-invent the wheel when you're OSU...look at who is consistently doing what you want to do, and get them.

Fair.

Aside from the poor clock management late in the game vs Oregon, Day just doesn’t seem to publicly hold his assistants accountable. Perhaps he is ripping them behind closed doors. But his D is simply great vs weaklings and average vs similarly talented teams.

Day had a great game plan vs Clemson in ‘19 and ‘20…..horrible luck in ‘19 caused us to lose that one.
Day had his team ready to play vs Georgia. Ran out of healthy offensive players and Ransom slipped on the ‘80 yard TD

But the problem I see is he give his assistants 1 year too many. That goes for Frye and LJ. They both should have been gone after last season.

We need killer coaches, not has-beens or nice guys.

Ryan Day's demeanor in this last presser has changed. He ain't happy, and I like it. In fact, he says he isn't happy about anything. Hopefully it translates into not losing another regular season game.
Complete 180 from last week’s “not a wake-up call” comments. Someone slipped this dude the red pill.

Dear Ryan Day,

My brother in Christ, if you want to put some reasonable doubt on the big game allegations….you CANNOT lose to Big Game James….ever.
Agreed

But I think he does this year

I hate to be negative but I feel a change in the air with Day and this team. I’m not saying he’s lost the locker room but it just seems like a new chapter is about to start in the Day era and it’s not a good one. I believe he has peaked.

He has a reputation for developing NFL talent, which is great, but his teams are soft, undisciplined, and lack any fire. The college step is just a step in the journey to the ultimate goal.

We have one position group that currently pulls their weight, and that’s it….

It’s fairly pathetic when you consider the amount of talent on this team.

And every game he talks about how they “want to get it to the fourth quarter where they believe they’ll win.” OK Coach….keep pushing that BS….you have a roster full of Lamborghini’s and you’re driving them like it’s a Pinto. Just an awful season thus far….dude is wasting the most talent we’ve assembled at OSU in the history of the program. It’s wild…..
