The program has really slipped in the past couple years. I think Rob Moxley says it all about Gary. He leaves Charlotte and heads to Maryland. After a year there he leaves to back to Charlotte and apparently had some hard feelings about Gary when he left.

I thought he was on borrowed time after he recently said this about the senior associate AD:

Williams' latest volley: "Kathy Worthington doesn't speak for me, she has never won a national championship, she has never done anything. She's an associate AD. This is just giving you guys stuff to make me look bad."

Moxley got Greivis Vasquez and bolted after a season because apparently Williams was terrible to work under. Billy Hahn leaving really hurt recruiting. Jimmy Patsos of Curry double team fame and Dave Dickerson left for head coaching jobs and things bottomed out. Hahn was their ace recruiter and was there for a long time.

Gary took over the OSU job when I was a student and he sure brought some excitement to the program. We went from NIT champs under Eldon to knocking off Kentucky in the NCAAs before losing a heartbreaker to Georgetown. With Dennis Hopson and Jay Burson, that was a fun year.

Sad to see him go out this way, at his alma mater.
