“I did a Zoom (call) with coach Day leading the charge about a week or so ago,” Antwi told Bucknuts’ Bill Kurelic. “Coach Hartline was on there as well. They were going over the basics. We’ll be doing a virtual tour Zoom coming up.”
Ohio State offered Antwi back in November, with that offer coming from Ryan Day before Hartline really took over leading the charge for the Georgia native. The receivers coach has been in constant contact with the 6-foot-1 wideout, even going as far as to FaceTime Antwi just ahead of the Buckeyes’ CFP matchup against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
“[Hartline] texted me this morning,” Antwi told Kurelic. “He was checking up on me. I’m in contact with coach Hartline about twice a week.”
Antwi, who has over 30 scholarship offers, previously had a top four of Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and of course Ohio State, but is heavily considering adding USC as a fifth team to his short list. Antwi told Bucknuts at the end of January that the Aggies and Buckeyes were the top two, but it looks as though Texas A&M has since taken a slight edge over OSU.
“I think A&M has jumped to No. 1,” Antwi said on Tuesday. “Ohio State and A&M are still the top two.”
Currently ranked as the No. 162 player in the country and the nation’s No. 19 WR in the junior class, Antwi has a pair of Crystal Ball predictions from January — one each for Ohio State and Georgia. The Buckeyes clearly have some work to do if they want to sway the four-star prospect away from the South, but with Hartline continuing to apply the pressure, there is no reason to think they can’t jump back to the top of Antwi’s list.
Antwi’s timetable is still up in the air with the potential extension of the NCAA dead period. If he is able to make his visits relatively soon, he plans to make his decision in July. If the dead period gets pushed into the summer, Antwi will likely wait until the middle or end of his senior season before making his commitment.
