Sounds like Fred Davis two years ago.
In all actuality it isn't really anything like the Fred Davis saga. If indeed what you mean is Ausberry's recruitment is similar to Fred's. Davis started off as a virtual lock to the buckeyes. And at the All American game it seemed as if he still was destined to go to the buckeyes (even though many thought he had big interest in Miami). Then he was all ready to announce for the tOSU and then delayed his announcement, and we know the rest of the story. Fred Davis never "silent committed" to anyone. And USC didn't come into the picture until later. Nor was he born in Southern California. Many believe Ausberry silent commited to USC. But if he camps at tOSU and takes a visit, who knows what can happen.

Not to pull this thread too far off track, but.... Superprep's Allen Wallace, the dean of national recruiting, had Fred Davis as a strong USC lean after Fred's official visit to USC in November of 2003 - talk of a USC "silent verbal" began shortly thereafter, so its not like USC just appeared out of the blue at the last minute.

Marv - I think that any time a recruit is compared to Fred Davis, a connotation of negativity will be inferred by the audience. Few kids have handled the recruiting process as poorly as Fred Davis, and there is no reason to suspect that David Ausberry (or any other recruit, for that matter) will act in a similar fashion.

For some reason, Fred Davis never entered my mind reading about Ausberry. FD was so confused he didn't know which way was up. Ausberry certainly seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. He has family in Columbus. He said he would "do everything in his power" to get to the OSU camp. He's taking his time and so far, seems to handle the recruiting process real well. Sorry, not like FD at all. JMHO.

Well Im not going to sit here a blame a kid for how his recruitment went, when most likely he had a thousand people in his ear pulling him in many directions, I just won't do that. Freddy chose who he chose for a reason, and he will have to live with that decision for life.
But back to my comparison, I compared them because some of their comments are similar not because I think that they have the same personality and that their recruitmment will play out the same.

I took preemptive action in steering the convo away from there... I did not know where you were heading with that comment and wanted to avoid the worst. No harm done. Tho we might want to consider splitting this thread off a little bit...
