Not too many coaches could turn a school around in (approx. 1 1/2 seasons) 21 games. Jimbo left the team in shambles. His recruiting classes (per Rivals):

2018 = #10
2019 = #18
2020 = #15 (so far)

His big problem was not having a QB, I don't think Vince Lombardi could win the ACC with Hornibrook at QB. I'm not sure he was really given much of a chance to succeed. Regardless $17.7M is a nice consolation prize.

Kentucky’s Mark Stoops headlines list of potential candidates to replace Willie Taggart at FSU

Here are a few names to keep an eye on:

Mark Stoops, Kentucky

Mike Norvell, Memphis

P.J. Fleck, Minnesota

Brent Venables, Clemson defensive coordinator

Tony Elliott, Clemson co-offensive coordinator
Lane Kiffin, FAU....:slappy::slappy::slappy:

Willie Fritz, Tulane

Gus Malzahn, Auburn

A few that could get in the mix as well: Matt Campbell (Iowa State), Tom Allen (Indiana), Dave Clawson (Wake Forest), Luke Fickell (Cincinnati), Josh Heupel (UCF). One not to consider? Urban Meyer.

Two points:

1) this guy loses all credibility when he mentions Kiffin.

2) Luke gets a mention for a really "big time" position.

Willie Taggart statement thanks FSU, disappointed at decision to let him go

Though Taggart is rightfully disappointed over the way things played out after the team’s loss to Miami, at least he’ll be well compensated for his quick exit as the reported buyout of his contract will cost the school some $17 million in addition to the roughly $10 million in salary he already made.

Imagine being Nebraska and hiring a guy who coached at Oregon State for 14 years with a 0.538 (.479 conference) record, a 5-7 (2-7) record when the hire was made, a single 10-4 season** 8 years ago, never went to a major bowl, finished ranked in both polls just 3 times - never above 18 -- which is about the level where it could be arbitrary with anyone in the top30.

It doesn't get much worse than that imo.

**Recall the impetus to fire the last guy was being stuck at 9 wins.

Come on, Taggert was left with Blackmon who had a years worth of experience, he couldve let Francois back after the bogus charges (that's what I remembered they were). He had a stable of RBs and young defense. And your team is in freaking FLORIDA! You should be able to recruit in your own state and not even have to leave. Both of your rivals arent that much ahead of you, and a program that runs the town that it's in. Free Shoes isn't in _ichigan or a town devoid of talent, this is all on Taggert, no excuses
