2023 FL DB Dijon Johnson (Ohio St. decommit, Florida Signee)

Things have flipped again in this recruitment and what looked like a done deal to Ohio State is on the rocks again.

The rumor is that Johnson wanted back in but Ryan Day had final say and it’s being held up.

Following up on my previous speculation with additional pure speculation, I’m assuming Day/Ohio State compliance told Brian Schottenstein that he wasn’t allowed to buy people houses.
I’m hearing that Day has final say, and asked DJ if he was done with visits, and DJ said he still wanted to take some. Day then said he didn’t want his commitment if that were the case. Again, this is just message board rumors…

kids play these games but coach ain't having it. He has a roster to fill. If DJ isn't sold on OSU and the support system they have in place to help out with his possible family situation and feels he needs to go somewhere else then so be it. Actions speak louder than words..... so if it isn't UF to stay close to home then you're dragging OSU along while you are still considering yet more schools.... Day isn't playing that game and I don't blame him.

I hope things work out for DJ and OSU can find another elite CB to fill the spot if it comes to that.

Sounds like it was probably a little bit of both ends—Day didn’t get the assurances he wanted about no additional visits, likely because Johnson didn’t get the assurances he wanted regarding arrangements for his family (I again assume that The Foundation stepped in and discussed some things with Johnson that the staff and compliance weren’t comfortable backing up).
