Jaheim Singletary (CB Georgia, transfer to ???)

SINGLETARY'S TRASH TALK

If there's a more confident and better trash talker in the 2022 class than Ohio State's five-star cornerback commit Jaheim Singletary, good luck finding him. His confidence took center stage on Twitter on Monday night and into Tuesday.

Just sayin': You have to like how he just oozes with confidence; confidence and a short memory (in case you do get beat) which is what you want in a CB.

That said, whenever a player from Florida commits to Ohio State, the Sunshine State programs as well as the SEC schools aren’t going to just let Singletary walk away without continuing their pitch. Schools are still in his ear but he has blocked out most of the noise.

“Schools are still coming at me but I’m not really that type of person (to play the recruiting game),” he said. “I’m not a social media guy. I just kind of chill and do me and I’m committed right now. Of course schools are going to get at me, especially the close ones, they are really at me hard. It was a surprise to a lot of schools (when he committed to Ohio State).”

Just sayin': Even though he has committed, at this point in time his recruitment is still definitely an ongoing process as it is with may other committed recruits too.

Part of 247's Top 5 on defense:
Jaheim Singletary, CB, Jacksonville (Fla.) Robert E. Lee (2022) - What we loved about the Ohio State commit is that he kept matching up with top receivers and getting called by the coaches to get in there and cover them, which he did, showing that he's a high-quality cover corner. We like the feet and he's got great ball awareness with natural cover instincts, not needing to hold or grab.

Moving beyond all of the doom and gloom, let’s get to the good news. This past weekend, Singletary and his family made the trek to Columbus for his Ohio State official visit, and let’s just say that the visit was everything the Buckeyes wanted and needed it to be. Singletary was able to chop it up with other members of the class and the staff too, but it was the weekend itself that gave feeling that Ohio State no longer needs to worry about how serious his commitment was.

On Monday, Dave Biddle of Bucknuts spoke on the matter during his Morning 5 show, and that Singletary himself says he is fully committed to the Buckeyes and he is “shutting it down” in terms of his recruitment. For any insider to get those types of glowing direct quotes from Singletary, that should do enough to ease any worries you may have had. Clearly, the DB loved his visit and is leaving Columbus as the solid commit those surrounding Ohio State wanted him to be.

This is obviously great news for the Buckeyes and their 2022 class. To know that their five-star cornerback and highest-rated player on the defensive side of the ball is locked in cannot be understated. Whatever it was that Kerry Coombs, Ryan Day, and others were able to do and say during the visit surely worked, as it looks like moving forward any doubt or concern of Jaheim Singletary being a Buckeye can be dismissed.
