247Sports Ranking: No. 56 athlete in the country

There might not have been a faster riser in the Sunshine State this spring than Kye Stokes. The three-star utility man from Seffner Armwood picked up 10 Power 5 offers in less than a week after winning a district track meet with a 10.80 in the 100-meter dash. Stokes was planning to tour a bunch of schools, but he ended up committing to Ohio State after a long conversation with the Buckeyes. His speed likely comes from his mother as she ran track at Miami. While some recruiters view Stokes as a wide receiver at the next level, he's expected to play safety once he arrives in Columbus.

I think Stokes comes in as a DB and Coombs/Barnes figure out his true position. Not sure its so cut and dry that he's a Safety.

I’ll just say this about Stokes.

There was a time in the recruiting phase where people didn’t give enough credit to Malik Hooker or more recently Denzel Burke.

But then those dudes suited up and balled out.

Yeah it's easy to get wrapped up in stars and HS rankings. But the pads have to put on. Heck, I remember there was a time when people thought Erick Smith would have a better football career than Marshon Lattimore...
