Dodgers back out of Randy Johnson Deal

NEW YORK -- The Los Angeles Dodgers withdrew Tuesday from the proposed three-team, 10-player trade that would have sent Randy Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the New York Yankees.

"As we sit here right now, the deal is no more," Dodgers general manager Paul DePodesta said during a conference call. "I've been saying all along that we weren't going to do the deal unless it made sense for this club in 2005, and that was not the case."

My guess is they will eventually get another team in there, and finally get RJ, but.....it could be a while.

I was wondering how long is was going to take LA to realize they were getting screwed in this trade. I guess they were getting ripped in the papers on the west coast for this possible trade. What I cant believe is that NY was going to get a couple of Million dollars and Randy Johnson!

I have a feeling Johnson will end up in pin stripes anyways.

Me too. In retrospect, I have no idea why the Dodgers even considered this. Why help out AZ in their own division AND deliver the Unit to the Yanks? It made no sense for them. They were unloading a lot of quality and getting nothing in return.

I think the Dodgers' owner should can DePodesta before he can do anymore damage. He already blew up a good LA team at this past trading deadline, and almost walked into another disaster.
